Los Angeles Rooftop Wedding
Here we are with another case of “where do we even begin?” Today’s wedding from Jenna Bechtholt Photography is just that good, with overflowing succulents and craspedia, and a bride who chose a crop top and long skirt over the traditional wedding dress. This is a good one, you guys, so pull up a chair!
From the bride, Robbielhyn: We wanted something different and fun, modern but simple. We went for taupe/neutrals with hints of yellow and blue. Mostly everything was DIY. The grooms uncle and cousins made the planter boxes for the centerpieces. My uncle actually grew all the succulents for me 6 months in advance. We put together our own centerpieces and I made all the bouquets just watching YouTube and adding fresh roses made carnations with dried billy buttons I bought from etsy. My uncle was the one that put the decorated our wedding arch with succulents and ribbon so it wouldn’t look so plain. I also made all the boutonnières, so we spent very little on florals. The cake/dessert was all baked by family as well.
Bouquet recipe: Succulents, roses, white carnations, and dried billy buttons.
My bridesmaids hand wrote all wedding signs, menu, his and her drinks, welcome signs on chalkboard frames that we got from a cousins previous wedding. We hand tied our candy apple favors in the bags bc it was cheaper to buy it in bulk unwrapped. I also did little things like buying cheaper wedding flutes and cake cutting sets and just dressing it up with twine so that it matched more with our look. I hand stamped our “RM” wax seals on our wedding invitations because my husband really liked how it looked when I showed him from Pinterest. It was a lot of work but we’ll worth it!!!
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Shop around early, but not until you really know what you want. We went through so many decorations that we didn’t even use because it ended up not fitting in our motif. The details do really matter because they put everything together. Don’t stress, and do everything so that you won’t need to stress the day before and of the wedding. I totally messed up so I had a bunch of things to still finish the night before the wedding; transporting all the things to the hotel, making the rest of the bouquets and getting together all the bridesmaids gifts!!! I’m a really hands on person, but I needed to just delegate some things to others because it really stressed me out taking everything. Family and friends are always willing to help if you let them know!!! So say something 🙂
