DIY Pegboard Backdrop
Over on the East Coast we’re getting our fair share of snow and chilly weather this weekend, and we can’t think of a better way to pass the time than with a fun DIY project! Kathryn Godwin of Studio Cultivate and Emily Chidester Photography are with us to share the secret behind this striking DIY Pegboard Backdrop, perfect for a dessert table or even a ceremony backdrop on a bigger scale.
For this project, you will need:
-pegboard 4×4 ft
-yarn
-scissors
-tapestry needle (a large eye is needed for the yarn)
Instructions:
1. Cut a 3ft length of yarn to start, any long and it will become easily tangled. Thread tapestry needle and begin stitching at a corner of the pegboard.
2. Loop through the first two holes and double knot on the backside. Continue to stitch the yarn in and out of the holes, and back to fill the lines. It will help to move at a faster pace when creating horizontal or vertical lines to skip over several holes at a time.
3. Vary the patterns with stitching, create horizontal, vertical, diagonal and chevron lines. Patch working the stitches into each other will bring an organic flow to this graphic and modern decor.
4. Set on a table and lean against the wall as a back to your dessert, gift or escort card table, or go big with a 4×8 foot sheet and use it as a backdrop!
That’s very creative 🙂
Ugh this is beautiful! And probably so fun to create. I saw something like this on pinterest, but with pegs instead of yarn and it outlined a specific state. So if both the bride and the groom embrace their state pride that might be an awesome addition to this idea! And the process of making it could be just as fun. You could even combine two DIY projects by incorporating the crafting process into a DIY video. Places like Weddeo wedding videography. let everyone incorporate footage while the professionals put together everything else. So that way you can capture the crafting moments. But this is awesome. Thanks for this!
