Romantic Old Souls Wedding

Romantic Old Souls Wedding

The Villa San Juan Capistrano is truly one of the most beautiful venues out there. It’s got a bit of Old World charm to it, which just so happens to be perfect for KC and Andrew and their wedding! onelove photography captured the whole day behind the lens while Growing Grace Floral Design created floral arrangements that are nothing short of stunning.

From the bride, KC: The wedding vision that we came up with as a couple represented us because the venue we chose was intimate, romantic and timeless. We wanted our wedding to be a comfortable setting for our family and guests that we don’t get to see too frequently. We are both pretty easy going people, and have both often been told that we have “old souls” which is why we both liked the idea of the design feeling rustic with lots of wood, greenery and pops of coppery metallic pieces.

It was important to us that all of the people that were able to come that day feel appreciated as their presence was what we valued most. That’s what comes to mind when thinking about why we chose such a wide variety of desserts, so there could be a little bit of something for everyone. Why we chose the Photo Booth company that we did, because we wanted our guests to have a good time. It is also why myself and one of my bridesmaids hand made all of our wedding favors, because we were hoping that all our loved ones would feel the thanks we have for them and how they contributed to our lives and the people we are today.

A lot of the design was brought to life by KC’s step-mom Rebecca and her friend Kerry. They spent countless hours coming up with ideas to make the day unique. There was a moss covered “L” to represent our married last name “Lang” that was created by Kerry and attached to a vintage gate that Rebecca had found out an antique shop. The containers for the centerpieces are something that KC was particularly found of. She wanted to have wooden planters mixed with lanterns, but to use the lanterns as another terreriums. Michelle with Growing Grace Floral Design did an amazing job of making the centerpieces flow together almost like a runner down each of the guest tables. One nostalgic contribution used for the pictures that was parked out front of the venue, was KC’s grandfather’s 1931 Ford Model A. It was restored by her grandpa and will be kept in the Aman family for generations to come. It was lovely to have that additional vintage touch in photos that day.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Planning a wedding is much more detail oriented than we could have ever imagined. We had over a year to plan and still were down to the wire only a week or so before the wedding finalizing details. My biggest advice would be to be sure to reserve the venue as soon as possible, then work on what you want your wedding to feel like and hone in on that for details. We wrote our own vows, which was lovely but I wish we had made more time to memorize them that day. On the day of, all of the time and effort spent to make the day come together will seem like it went by so quickly. So be sure to take it all in, enjoy every minute of the whole day and remember you’re starting life’s journey with the person you love most in the entire world.
