We made two different types of flowers: coffee filter flowers and tissue paper flowers.
To make the miniature coffee filter flowers:
We used disposable K-Cup filters since the diameter is small enough that you can use Hershey’s Kisses as the stamen. We used a mix of plain white filters and a few colored ones with the help of a spray bottle. This will give you a fluid pattern on the filters, but you can also dip them entirely for a solid dye.
Wait an hour or so till they dry and using 3-4 filters per flowers to add texture, glue Hershey’s Kisses on the center.
To make the tissue paper flowers:
Cut 3-4″ squares and stack 3-4 sheets in alternating angles. Glue a Rolo on the center of each as the stamen.
Place your flowers at random on the suspended chicken wire by tucking the stamen in the chicken wire. No need to glue! We cut the chicken wire in an organic irregular shape and suspended from the ceiling using hooks. If you can’t use the ceiling and need a free-standing option, we recommend suspending from a backdrop frame like the ones used for photography studio backdrops or pouring Quickrete in two bukets with PVC pipe cut to length. Candy used in the backdrop is for decorative purposes only.
