From the planner, The Modern PartySouthern California is the perfect place to host an outdoor wedding year-round, so why not create a dreamy winter wedding along the stunning California coast? This majestic design is all about keeping things soft, feminine and whimsical while showcasing new trends, winter whites and playful use of color. The saturated blush was traded in for lavender and the traditional fresh blooms were swapped out for dried florals to create a truly innovative and whimsical winter editorial. Marissa with The Modern Party teamed up with a talented list of local vendors to bring her vision to life, while film and digital hybrid photographer, Mirelle Carmichael captured it all exquisitely.

Wedding color palettes and florals are traditionally feminine and romantic, so it was important to keep those elements while changing things up a bit for a fun and fresh, winter look. Lily from Olive & Blooms used her floral magic to create just that and shared what inspired her vision “For the bride who wants to stand out, this palette of purple, lavender and shades of whites and ivories is so fun yet elegant and ethereal. Whoever said unique and spunky can’t be romantic & timeless?! I chose to use mostly dry florals because I often times get asked by brides how they can preserve their bouquets. Bouquet preservation, although possible, can be quite an expensive process. Using mostly dry florals allows brides to keep and display their bouquets without breaking the bank!”

When designing a romantic and inviting dining table, it’s all about layering different textures and elements. Marissa wanted to make sure she kept things elegant and modern while using a mix of textures and finishes to create a cool and wintery vibe, “To me, nothing screams winter like velvet but instead of using the widely popular flat velvet, I wanted to bring in something with more sheen and texture, reminiscent of the cool winter months.”

The detailed hand calligraphy by Robert Pansacula used in the stationery, signage and place cards, added a touch of romance and elegance to the whole look. “Soft colors of lavender and blush, paired with a pop of gold text and vine illustrations was inspired by the color scheme, table setting, and the beautiful vineyard scenery. This paired great with the white accents in the floral arrangements and different accessories of the same color. Using soft handmade paper with deckled edges gave the invitation suite a soft look. And a hint of navy blue calligraphy that stood out agains the blush and gold-foiled text.”
