Handcrafted Philadelphia Wedding

Monday couldn’t come fast enough to share the scrumptious weddings that we have lined up for this week. To start the week off right, we have a super creative DIY wedding shot by the ladies from Love Me Do Photography, a seasoned Ruffled photography team based in Philly. Amy and Stephen handmade all of their decor and incorporated lots of family heirlooms and vintage items — including Amy’s mother’s wedding dress, which was altered for Amy. They used Philadelphia as their main inspiration throughout their wedding, including their brownstone skyline in their stationery and vintage map confetti toss. You’re missing out if you don’t check all images from this wedding in the galley!

From Amanda of Love me Do Photography: Stephen and Amy had a down-to-earth and sincere, thoughtfully-handcrafted Philadelphia wedding inspired by our loving families, local history and passion for adventure. They set out to create a lively and heartfelt backyard garden party where guests felt like participants – not members of an audience. Stephen had all three of his brothers as his “Best Men”, Amy’s short wedding dress had pockets, their cake was 65 inches long and their “getaway car” was a bicycle pedicab. Our venue, tucked away on a tiny street in the middle of downtown Philadelphia, was warm and inviting with antique clocks, portraits of presidents past and ivy covered brick walls..

Some details from the bride, Amy :

My mother made my wedding dress and jacket using lace from her very own wedding dress. She sewed a 2011 penny into the pocket for good luck, and as a nod to Benjamin Franklin.

Stephen’s dad was our officiant and my uncle performed the same song that he played at my parent’s wedding 31 years ago. Bouquets were wrapped with my grandmother’s handkerchiefs.

Table assignments were printed on slides from Stephen’s collection of travel slides and the guestbook was fashioned from an old atlas.

  • wow! I love the maps in the shoe, the lovely homeade alter, the… well, everything really! Charming, and city sweet!

  • Hi All! Thanks for all of the kind words. Stephen and I had such a wonderful time planning our wedding. It was a true joint effort from start to finish! It’s really exciting to be featured on Ruffled Blog – especially since I visited Ruffled oh-so-many times while planning my wedding. If you would like to see our wedding in motion, check out our video here (made by our talented friend, Chris Carlone): https://vimeo.com/26837233

  • What a sweet wedding! I especially love the bridal party’s attire. I was thinking of doing something similar. Seeing your beautiful photos, I’m sold!! Thank you for the inspiration.

  • What are the names of the songs and the artists who performed them on the wedding video?

Beautiful. I teared up watching this! Thank you for sharing.

  • Every details of the wedding seems to be very well done, and the video is absolutely great. The reception venue is also a great choice without a doubt. I personally love it

  • I know I’m a little late to view this adorable wedding but I was curious how the names were put on the escort sides with the border? They look printed so was there a template? Trying to DIY this myself & running out of ideas! Help!!
