Stone Oak Ranch Wedding
Let’s kick off the week with a good amount of wedding eye candy captured by Krystle Akin. The ceremony chapel from this Texas wedding at Stone Oak Ranch is just the sweetest site we ever did see. How could you not fall in love with the woodsy, cabin-like setting?
From the bride, Ashley: We wanted a natural elegance for the ceremony and a light-hearted, jazzy, class for the reception. Peter and I love old music and movies from the 30’s and 40’s and we have a real appreciation for the simple amusement and innocence there was in the past. People were ladies and gents, but they sure knew how to have a good time! We wanted to enjoy that kind of atmosphere for our wedding day. We envisioned a peaceful and reverent ceremony and a reception that was more Fred Astaire and Glen Miller than “Drop it Like it’s Hot” and the “Macarena”.
Natural, Pastel, vintage, classy, jazzy, quirky, modest. The color scheme was pastels (the kind you find on maps). We had a theme of vintage travel/distance because Peter and I have always lived in different states. We used vintage suitcases, telephones, maps, and old postcards. The guests threw paper airplanes at us as we entered the reception! Most of the décor was DIY except the TONS of wildflowers and vintage furniture and other creative items provided by Melanie from Prairie Sage.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Don’t let yourself get caught up in trends and get pulled away from what really represents you. Look for the things that really make you feel like you, things that make your soul jump, remember things from your childhood, and let that be what you use to guide things. It’s a day to celebrate your life and your man’s life coming together as one life. Don’t waste time worrying about what’s trendy or what people will like best.

Oh my gosh, the ceremony site could not be more adorable! Beautiful wedding!
Some really cute ideas for and outdoor wedding. Walker Manor has over an acre and a half of backyard space and I’m trying to find ideas on how to landscape or provide natural settings for photo sessions and your site has given me wonderful ideas. Thanks!
