Georgia Lodge Wedding

Given that the groom in today’s wedding is a photographer himself, Sara and Mike knew they wanted to focus the bulk of their wedding budget in the photography. They brought along Julia Robbs with Our Labor of Love to capture their wedding day (and beautifully, I might add), and set off to wed in the woods an hour outside of Atlanta. With an outside ceremony and a lodge reception, how could it be anything less than perfection?

From the bride, Sara: We envisioned a rustic wedding that had a vintage flair. We wanted the wedding to feel very laid back and inviting with a mix of the traditional and un-traditional.

My husband wood-burned our guest book cover, as well as our signs for the wedding, and our last name onto a wooden milk crate that was used to receive cards. I hand made a 8ft by 8ft backdrop made entirely of white paper flowers for our photobooth.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? 1. Plan Early, Plan Often. 2. Do it your way. Let your wedding reflect who you are as a couple and it is bound to be a good time. 3. Consider transportation methods for guests if you are getting married in the country or another remote area and are serving beer and wine. We got a shuttle to take guests from the wedding back to the hotel, and because of that our dance floor was rockin’ all night! 4. Don’t skimp on photography and consider getting a videographer who will do creative filming. It is so worth it, trust me!!

  • I have always wanted to do something with the floating lanterns since I saw Tangled! Did you make them? Are there any rules about sending them off into the sky? (Fire precautions?)

    • You guys rock! Mad skills on the handmade wood burned album and signs. I love how much fun you are having, that you had a food truck cater and all has rustic elements. Your floral backdrop is beautiful and floating paper lanterns = awesome! ! Great job. 🙂

    • I bought them on ebay. 100 for around $100 we still have a ton left. Really awesome but very hard to sync with everyone, they take some time to light and fill with hot air. Not sure about fire code, prolly not allowed but we were in the country with plenty of tree clearance.

    • Private Venue in Luthersville Ga I believe we were the 3rd wedding there. It’s mostly used by the owners for family reunions and as a hunting lodge.

  • My fiance and I inquired about lighting some floating lanterns but was not allowed because of fire hazards. 🙁 You’re wedding is amazing!
