Modern Rooftop Wedding

When we see a vendor list that includes Brooke Schultz, Calie Rose, and Carrie’s Cakes, we know we’re in for a real treat. This team put together a winter shoot that’s anything but gloomy, focusing on bright whites, soft grays, and a bit of gold with a rooftop setting to boot. And did I mention the bride’s bow hairstyle? Must learn how to do that now!

From the photographer, Brooke Schultz: Winter can be long, drab, and downright ugly, so we wanted to find a way to make winter modern and glamorous with a hint of whimsy. A neutral palette with hints of color in the bride’s makeup and paper goods along with shiny metallics warm up a dreary day while keeping it chic.

The bride’s fur paired with the groom’s scarf lend winter coziness without being stuffy, and the sleek tablescape with a downtown view leaves room for a playful hair bow for the bride, a dotted dress tea-length dress and textured tights. The rooftop location with big-bulbed lights gives the space an industrial chic feel. The flowers prove that neutral doesn’t have to be boring — the talented Calie Rose used anemones, peonies, English garden roses, lisianthus, stock, tulips, hydrangea, grey dusty miller, and silver brunia to complete the wintery look. Add mercury glass and gold glitter velvet ribbon and voila! Winter wedding bliss that’s modern and playful.
