Marianmade Farm Wedding
There are many reasons to love this Maine wedding, and perhaps the most compelling is the way it effortlessly blends bohemian, indie, rustic, and glam styles into a chic backyard affair. Emily Delamater, Diane York Events, and Marianmade Farm joined together to make wedding day magic – let’s take a look, shall we?
From the bride, Marie: I wanted our wedding to have an indie feel with a lot of handmade elements. We picked yellow + gray for a color scheme, but I did not want that to limit us design wise. I love mixing textiles + patterns and shy away from themes. I work for a non-profit craft organization so supporting local artisans + vendors was important to me. Our wedding jewelry was purchased from local jewelers, one of which is a member of my organization.
Flower recipe: I told the florist I wanted succulents + lambs ear + billy buttons included – I also told her I wanted my flowers to be white. Other than that I let her take the creative lead.
I picked grey + yellows as a base color scheme but did not want to be limited by that. Most of the decorations were either purchased finds or made by myself + family. My husband + his brother-in-law built the arbor, the bells hanging from the arbor were made by my mother-in-law. The tissue flags were created by my sister-in-law (who also married us!). The big moss letters, menu sign, were created my mom, the wooden round signs were created by myself + my husband cut the rounds.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Weddings are a very exciting + stressful time. It’s important to take a step back and remember that this is about the two of you and significant milestone in both of your lives. You will be getting lots of suggestions and opinions from family + friends which can be overwhelming, but just remember they love you and just want to support you. Stay true to yourselves and take what suggestions fit your ideas, and show appreciation for suggestions you don’t take.
