Mad Hatter Inspired Wedding
With its timeless touches of reds and purples, I was immediately drawn to this wedding from Teale Photography — so imagine my delight when I saw that the bride’s inspiration was Tim Burton’s version of ‘Alice In Wonderland’! Bride Amanda’s ability to bring in unexpected elements — like her flower bomb wedding dress and the skeleton key boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen — have us loving every bit of this rooftop California wedding.
From the bride, Amanda: We both had a love for Alice in Wonderland and were very inspired by Tim Burton’s version of the story. We wanted everything to be beautiful, bright and bold. The tea party scene and the red queen’s court were especially inspiring. We wanted people to be at our wedding and feel like they were in a magical place, a true wonderland.
I would describe the look of our wedding as vibrant, enchanting, detailed, and eclectic. Our theme was ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired. Our color scheme was deep red, deep purple, slate gray and we also had bold pops of color (orange, green, pink, etc.). As for DIY projects I made “drink me” straws by custom stamping onto tags I made, I custom made my brooch bouquet using my own and grandmother’s brooches I had been given, I made the bar sign for our signature drink “mad hatter’s potion” (sangria), and I also made our wishing tree. I also made my husband’s boutonniere with a vintage skeleton key and artificial flowers so we could preserve it easier. The groomsmen wore pocket watches.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Enjoy it, it really does go by fast! Nothing really is worth getting stressed over, no matter what things come together in the end. Our flower girl dresses didn’t show up in time for our wedding and since it was destination some things were forgotten at home so I had to put them together last minute. Remember what’s important, marrying your best friend!
