Freeform Florals For A Pittsburgh Garden Terrace Wedding
If the freeform florals on display in this terrace wedding backdrop stopped you in your tracks today, you’re not alone! Lilac, peach, periwinkle and cream hues dance harmoniously in the natural floral arrangements from GreenSinner, and wild English garden flower bed vibes abound from the ceremony to the table. We love the way the concepts from Pennsylvania Weddings flow seamlessly from one vignette to the next, accented beautifully with sketched floral prints, glossy blush dinnerware and upholstered cane back chairs. While an immersive floral wedding experience is no easy feat to pull off, Wanderlust Weddings + Events brought the garden terrace vision to life through such thoughtful details as blossoms floating in champagne coupes + candle holders, 3D sugar flowers on the hand-painted cake and bridal heels with intricate petal embellishments that will make your heart flutter. If this isn’t reason enough to have you dive headfirst into the gorgeous gallery from Dawn Derbyshire Photography below, then just wait til you glimpse the romantic flower embroidered wedding dress and dusty rose groom suit. I’m telling you. These design ideas inspired by freeform florals will have you floating on air!
From the Photographer, Dawn Derbyshire Photography: This shoot was a labor of love. As the lead photographer, I really came into this wanting to showcase a REAL couple, and to make sure we were being conscious of having a diverse group not just with models, but with many female-run and LGBTQ+ friendly businesses at the helm of this shoot. The team took inspiration from Dutch Masters, over grown gardens, and just over the top color and flowers to transform the clean, white space of the venue and let their work shine through.
Being COVID-concious while keeping things romantic, intimate and beautiful, our imitate reception table was the star of the show. Dinner for 16 at a long table, grouping couples by having the florals work as dividers between little groups of seats created space for a socially distanced dinner while making it feel like you are dining in your own private garden.
The team mixed lots of color and texture, taking the large white room and making it feel warm, colorful, and lush. The floral inspiration was everywhere, from floral wrapped candles, to floral print napkins. Even the dress and shoes for our bride had floral details to flow with the reception and ceremony space.
At the ceremony space, to keep with the overgrown garden vibe, the patio of the venue was covered with flowers that appeared to be growing right out of the cement. Mimicking the same shape as the florals coming out of the reception table, the ceremony flowers had more pastel, warm tones to help the couple stand out against the rolling hills of the club behind them. The team carefully crafted every element to make sure the day flowed while feeling organic, intimate and romantic.
What we wouldn’t give to have freeform florals like this in our lives everyday!
