English Garden Inspired Wedding
Katie and Philip’s wedding shot by Mustard Seed Photography is that kind of wedding that makes one think, how do they pull off such a dream day so effortlessly? Everything seemed to have fallen perfectly in place, from the antiques the Caney House let them use, to the vintage doors they incorporated in their English Garden inspired wedding.
From the bride, Katie: At first, we were searching for an outdoor venue that would fit our English garden theme. We found a few great venues in Houston, but nothing seemed very genuine, unique, or represented who we are. Then we found the Caney House! When we drove up to the venue, it just spoke to us, and it was down the road from where I grew up. The house is gorgeous with a huge wrap around porch, the gardens are beautiful just by themselves, and it was out in the country so it felt more intimate and secluded.
The owner of our venue had a lot of antiques we could choose to incorporate into our decor any way we wanted. I found beautiful stained glass windows and thought it would be amazing to hang them up in the altar space to create more a church feeling since we were outside. We also found some gorgeous old doors we used in the entry way of the ceremony to make it feel like you were entering a grand room rather than a garden. I also loved bouncing ideas around with my florist. She really inspired me! Since I was going for an English garden feel, she really helped me pick the right kind of roses and greenery to evoke the theme. I loved her idea of hanging crystals in the rose bushes to give the feel of a chandelier.
One thing I absolutely had to include at our wedding was my mother’s cake topper. It’s her most treasured possession. So to incorporate it, we included it on our cake table and made it our something “old.” Then we had the idea to make our cake blue (something blue) and borrow my grandmothers cake server (something borrowed) It all came together beautifully!

Stunning! Definitely felt like a day-dream! I absolutely adore the ribbon runners, such gorgeous colors!
You say garden and English in the same sentence and I’m hooked! Love the details, the colors, the venue, the old door! and of course the vintage plates!
