DIY Easy Artful Backdrop
Not all DIYs are created equal. This one that Kathryn of Studio Cultivate is a clear example that you don’t need to labor over decor in the name of DIY. Instead, you can invest on a few paintings like these ones from artist Kathryn Schermbeck and decorate around them for a big impact at your wedding. These images by Ariana Clare fuses together artistry and an easy project that will be an interesting talking piece at your wedding. Hang it at your ceremony, behind your sweetheart table at the wedding reception, then take them home to decorate your walls for years to come!
From the painter and DIY designer, Kathryn Schermbeck: Instead of spending the majority of your wedding flower budget on just flowers, why not invest in pieces like this artistic canvas that can be a great wedding backdrop that will live on in your home to continually celebrate and remind you of the special day?
Materials you need:
Artist painted canvases
Rope
Greenery
Berries
Floral wire
Wire cutters
Scissors
Jute string
1. Starting in a space large enough to accommodate all of your materials and the art, cut the rope to the length preferred to suspend the paintings. Loop the ends and tie them together with jute string and hang it over the bar of the backdrop’s support or from the ceiling.
2. At the opposite end of the top, begin to gather a mix of greenery branches together. Wrap the floral wire around the branches and rope and make sure to twist tight. Use fresh cut berries and tuck in where desired for a simple color pop. Feel free to add flowers if your budget allows, but the simplicity of the greens complement the details of the artwork so beautifully!
3. After suspending the rope garland, attach the canvases with jute, tying them to the back frame supports. You can also use an S hook through the rope to hang the canvases if this is preferred.
4. Once your celebration is complete, take these art canvases home, treasure them, and hang them in a special place to always carry with you memories of your special day!
This is such a cool idea! Thanks for sharing 🙂 We’re going to have to add it to our pre-wedding tips: https://abbysparks.com/engaged/
