Paris Honeymoon Guide: Le Marais
Last week I covered my trip to the first arrondissement of Paris, and today I’m sharing my time in the 3rd and 4th districts (plus a bit of the 6th)! Le Marais has been referred to as the “hipster area,” the “cool part” of Paris, and as days go by it only becomes more and more popular. We started off our visit here by checking into Le Pavillon de la Reine & Spa with Small Luxury Hotels, and were greeted by one of the most breathtaking views we’d see on our trip.
I mean honestly, how stunning is that? Even though we knew what to expect from pictures online, we were still stopped in our tracks by the incredible greenery and sculptures in the courtyard. The hotel directly faces Place des Vosges, a famous park known for its perfect symmetry, 36 buildings, and its place in French history as the oldest planned square in Paris.
Of course, the beauty didn’t stop at the outside. We made our way through the elegant hallway bedecked in richly patterned wallpaper to our room, and were thrilled to find the same wallpaper on our own walls. The dark wood and upholstery with velvet accents only made everything look that much more luxurious, and a high five was in order for picking such a beautiful space for the next two nights. The bathroom was thoughtfully divided into one room for the sinks and bathtub/shower combination, and another for the toilet. Downstairs is an equally beautiful lobby, and hidden behind the courtyard is a lovely terrace with lounges and an Honesty Bar. As you could guess from the name, Le Pavillon de la Reine & Spa also has its own spa with two treatment rooms open from 7am-9pm each day.
If there’s only one shop that needs to be on your Marais checklist, it’s likely Merci. Touted as a concept store, the inspiring space hosts a lovely garden entrance, a chic bookstore cafe, and three different levels filled with everything from gifts to home goods to jewelry to men and women’s apparel.
On our last day in Paris, we realized we didn’t want to leave the city without stopping by the always-breathtaking Jardin du Luxembourg. After a short Uber drive, we were face-to-face with some of Paris’ most stunning landscaping and buildings, with grounds that seemed to go on forever. A bit of a touristy stop, but there’s a reason everyone makes it a point to visit.
