DIY Coffee Bag Favors
We’re kicking off the week with a wedding favor idea that is sure to be a favorite amongst couples looking for a crowd pleaser, gender neutral and ridiculously cute option to give to their guests. This DIY coffee bean bag favor idea is also the perfect addition to a welcome tote bag if you’re having a destination wedding where the location is known for its coffee. Have guests that aren’t coffee drinkers or can’t have caffeinated drinks? Create the same favor for tea bags and decaf coffee options.
What you will need:
Lettering Stencil
Burlap bags (4×6, available here)
Twine, hemp cord or ribbon
1 inch circle paper punch and paper of your choice
Coffee Beans
Stamp Kit for tags
Hole paper punch (not pictured)
Fabric marker (not pictured)
Using the stencil, starting painting burlap bags with wording of your choice. We chose cafe since the coffee we bought is from Costa Rica and it’s faster to stencil with just four letters, plus it gives the perfect import/export coffee sack look. Fill burlap bags half way (about a cup or a cup and half) and tie with Thank you tags. You can also make tea favors for guests who don’t drink coffee using the same stencil but placing in a separate crate. The total cost for packaging materials were under 50 cents per favor.
These are fantastic! Such a cute idea…
I really like this idea. Simple. I bet it would make the space smell yummy too!
As a lover of coffee and all things adorable– this is a double whammy!
So cute. Great idea for a morning wedding too.
These are so cute! I may try and work them into the centerpieces somehow too 🙂
my fiance would love this idea! he works at starbucks and we have been thinking of ways to give coffee beans as gifts.
This is BRILLIANT! I’ve been struggling with what to do about favors that hasn’t been done a million times and is also special. My family is from Puerto Rico and they have the best coffee ever, I am totally going to do this and use PR coffee beans!
Love, love, love these! And, get a rubber stamp of your own personal logo or monogram and make them ultra-customized.
I’m getting married in Vieques, PR and my boyfriend LOVES coffee, so I thought he would be all over this idea, but, ever the coffee snub, he turned it down: “cause it wouldn’t be very fresh.”
These are my FAVORITE so far. So excited to see more DIY projects!
What a cute idea, I love this!!
This seems like a great idea and very original. I haven’t seen this yet!
best favor idea EVER!!! this is beyond adorable!!
just darling Idea
I LOVE this! My fiance and I got engaged in Savannah – and went on a foody tour the next day. On our tour there was an adorable start-up coffee company, and I would love to do this with their coffee! (it was SO good!)
These are so cute and simple! Such a good idea!! NOTED! 🙂
Very cool idea
This is so adorable, affordable and just plain cute!
These are adorable and so memorable! You could make a fun and wonderful display table for just these cute favors or make them part of each wedding table. Try tying the color of the tag in with your wedding colors!
What a simple and innovative idea!
Too cute! My fiance and I were looking for the perfect way to display coffee….we found this and were convinced! We will be doing 50% coffee and 50% marked for tea 🙂
:))) I never seen something like that! so funny
My daughter & fiance were study buddies who fell in love in a coffee shop.We are doing these bags, only made w linen fabric, and filling w chocolate covered coffee beans and biscotti!
What size hole paper punch did you use?
We just made these and they look amazing! Thank you so much!
What a great tutorial! I absolutely love making these little guys & filling them with all kinds of good stuff — tulip bulbs, wildflower seeds, you name it. They’re the perfect favors. I wanted to let you know I linked to this incredible tutorial in our blog & mentioned your site several times. Here’s the URL to our wedding blog if you’d like to see: https://www.borrowedandblue.com/charlottesville/wedding-blog/how-to-create-the-perfect-wedding-welcome-bag
Thanks so much! Keep rocking!
Where did you get your coffee beans? I’m finding it to be very expensive, and have no idea how big of a bag of coffee I need… looking to make about 100 of these puppies.
By the way, its an excellent idea! thanks a bunch! 🙂
Great idea! How many ounces of coffee beans did you plan for each bag?
At the risk of offending anyone, I have to point out that although they look very pretty, the coffee really would be stale. And tea leaves too, though not nearly as fast. But a sealed plastic or maybe wax cloth bag might help. You can’t work as a (passionate and dedicated) barista without seeing the flaw here. 🙂
Great Idea! I love it. I was wondering if you purchased the Burlap bag from the link you provided above. I wanted to get the exact burlap bag, but havent been able to find one
These are just soooo cute!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
This was extreeeemely helpful. Thank you! Especially for the tip to order from Uline. That alone saved around $40, at least!
how many ounces of coffee beans would i need to fill 40 cup size bags, on a budget so do not want to overbuy Thanks
