Malibu Wine Country Wedding with Succulents and Signage
Let’s get something straight. We’re pretty avid pun enthusiasts. So when this succulent-filled Malibu Wine Country wedding landed in our inbox, we were thrilled to see a play on words at every opportunity. Sammy and Brian’s day is filled to the brim with details we love – a creative escort card display, patterned linens, floral bridesmaid dresses… see for yourself in the images below!
Ruffled wedding pro, LB Events is the creative genius behind this California ranch wedding, and we’re pretty amazed at design details that came into play.
Captured by Jenny Smith & Co., no thoughtful detail went amiss. We’re loving the natural beauty in this gallery!
From the photographer, Jenny of Jenny Smith & Co.: We absolutely LOVE this wedding from last year! The bride and groom spared no expense hiring a dream team of vendors to execute the perfect wedding day. From the bridesmaids’ floral dresses, the wood and marble chargers, and AMAZING succulent themed escort card display this wedding had all the nature vibes. Since their last name is Moore, there were awesome play-on-words with their name all day (ex: Moore Madness, Smoores, There’s Moore Where That Came From, etc).
From the bride:
What did you envision your wedding being prior to planning?
A celebration of our love (past and future) with our family and best friends.
What was your color palette and your style vision?
Ivory, sage, navy, and blush. Soft and romantic, highlighting the natural elements and beauty of our venue
Natural waves + soft makeup looks from Girl Meets Bongga – we’re obsessed!
Tell us about your design details.
We had a few ideas of the colors that we wanted to incorporate into our florals and knew we wanted succulents featured in some way. We trusted our florist, Heirloom Design House, to bring the vision to life in her own interpretation. Our floral arrangements combined our current home of California along with our Arizona roots and featured a number of flowers that were in bloom during the season. For the gown, I knew I wanted something simple and classic with an element of surprise. My designer was Nouvelle Amsale. The gown was a fitted sheath dress with a tulle skirt and buttons featured all the way down the train. As for dessert, we opted for donuts from Spudnuts Donuts over cake to create a less formal vibe. Our signature donut was a “S’Moore” donut (a play on our last name).
When you pair patterned linens from La Tavola Linen with vintage tabletop rentals from Borrowed Blu, you know you’re in for a visual treat.
What unique elements or DIY details did you include?
Custom escort wall that played a nod to a March Madness bracket, donut bar with our favorite signage saying “Treat Yo’ Self”, and a cocktail menu with personalized drinks representing the bride’s, groom’s, and couple’s favorites.
PSA: if you’re a purveyor of fine escort card displays, don’t miss this book lover themed one in our recent Charleston wedding feature too!
What was your favorite moment? Your favorite crafted detail?
It was truly a collection of moments. However, they all involve us sitting back and drinking in the love that was present in the room and acknowledging that everyone was there to celebrate us and the beginning of our story as husband and wife. As for the favorite detail, it’s a toss-up between the escort wall and the customized fireplace installation featuring dozens of candles and flowers.
What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?
Remember to stay in the moment. With all the decisions you have to make, it can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture – you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend!
