Whimsical Wonderland Shoot

In case you missed this week’s Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower, let us reiterate that we’re always up for some good Wonderland themed wedding inspiration. Matt and Ashley Photography took this vision and ran with it, bringing along the talented A Touch of Whimsy Events, Flair Necessities, and The Vines Flower and Garden Shop to bring everything full circle – and of course, we love the result!

From the photographers, Matt and Ashley Photography: We had the privilege of collaborating with a team of twelve talented metro-Detroit wedding vendors in making Alice in Wonderland come to life in a styled wedding shoot. The idea was planted in the midst of Michigan’s harsh, grey winter while I was selling my own wedding goods to vintage rental extraordinaire Kaylin Scott of A Touch of Whimsy Events. We craved a romantic, dreamlike scene to bring in spring and inspire our future brides. We immediately brought the idea to the talented Karie Hillman-Doonan of Flair Necessities and joined forces.

Over several months, we meticulously planned four whimsical scenes, including an entrance with a door framed by greenery, a vintage couch underneath a tall tree, a drink & favor stand and an elaborate tablescape adorned with teacups, moss and desserts. Although Alice is Wonderland is typically thought of as cartoon-like and eccentric, we drew inspiration from soft, elegant elements. We harnessed our ideas and executed them through a blush, ivory and gold color palette that was woven together with greenery and moss.

A Touch of Whimsy Events and Flair Necessities stylized each scene on-site within the gorgeous woods at Waldenwoods Resort, and The Vines Flower and Garden Shop loaned us their unbelievable talent and lush blooms to add the finishing touches. We weaved dreamy details throughout the entire shoot, including floating teacups with large flowers above a vintage, ivory couch. Thanks to a gorgeous wedding gown provided by The White Dress and designed by Justin Alexander, our beautiful Alice & her groom looked as though they stepped out of the storybook. They were even joined by an extra large, extra friendly White Rabbit.
