Handmade Dairy Barn Wedding
Where to begin with this wedding from Alively Photography? I suppose the obvious choice would be the intricate dessert table backdrop and that insane cake by Whitney Nelson of Family Catering — seriously, how cool is that? Sheila and Josh pulled inspiration and helping hands from tons of friends and family for one unforgettable shindig.
From the bride, Sheila: My inspiration was more of a classic country type theme with some vintage accents. Along with my wedding planner, family and friends we did a lot of the decorations and things ourselves. The fabric flower poms, the garland draped over the arch and around the gift table and we made our fan programs. We found all items for the center pieces from different antique stores and ordered our own paper lanterns and inserts and I LOVED the paper design we laid out for the backdrop of the cake table. We made the wooden signs along the road, found moss wire to hang our lanterns on and shopped around for the perfect vintage trunk to put by the stairs.
I wanted to go with a somewhat vintage feel for my dress, I knew i wanted to to be mostly lace and show my back so I tried on about 25 lace dresses before I found the perfect one. Its an Ivory Casablanca dress that’s satin with a lace overlay and the style number is 1979 which is the year my husband is born. That makes it extra special to me.
From the photographer, Nicole of Alively Photography: It was a wedding without a dry eye… including mine 🙂 Both Josh and Sheila’s dad’s are ordained ministers and it was so special to have them officiating… it made the ceremony so personal and meaningful. All of the very talented musicians in the wedding were personal friends along with the florist, planner, Invitation designer and DJ.
