Villa San Juan Capistrano Wedding
We love that today’s bride and groom took inspiration for their wedding decor from their favorite destination (and honeymoon spot!), France. This wedding is Old World French style meets relaxed California elegance, and has not only one stunning bride but also one of the most dapper grooms we’ve featured this year. Our thanks go out to Ashley Rose Photography for sharing this wedding with us!
From the bride, Rachel: Our inspirations for our day came from our love of “old world” character. We love antiques and try to go to flea markets as much as we can. It’s all about if it speaks to us and makes us smile, there’s just something about the history tied to old things that we can’t resist.. and I love old things mixed with florals and beauty.
From the playlist to the candle holders, we wanted everything to speak about us and our style. We took a lot of time to create things that spoke to us – I made all of the napkins for the tables (a labor of love) in all different patterns for each table. I think it brought more character to the dinner atmosphere than just having plain linens. Everything that we created had some sort of French influence to it too – but old world French style – think handmade lace, ornate props, old books… shabby chic mixed with rustic French.
We love old music and films, and a lot of our songs came from the 1920s-1940s era mixed but mixed with new songs as well. We both love France and Jared visited me there when I did a study abroad program. The culture and the beauty in all things around us really inspired our “french influence”, so much so we decided to go there on our honeymoon. My mom and friends helped by bringing in the French countryside as well by making peach jam for each guest to take home. We wanted all of this for our wedding – AND for everyone to feel relaxed and at home.
The most memorable moment of the day for me, was when Jared gave me a ring that was unexpected (I thought I was only going to have one ring, my “engagement ring”). I was so surprised and stunned – it is a moment that I will never forget. Our first look was beautiful too and it was so amazing to just take each other in, we really felt relieved to see each other and to just have a few precious moments alone before everything started. It was really a magical and joyous moment for us.
