The Valentine’s Day spirit is one that stays with us all through the year, so we thought we’d continue the festivities with this brilliant styled shoot from Juli Vaughn Designs, Color Pop Events, and photographers Elicia Bryan and Divine Light Photography. We’ve got a few installments for this feature, so stay tuned for some incredible DIY ideas from participating vendors throughout the day!
From the stylist, Juli Vaughn Designs: There are certain elements that are expected when one is trying to be romantic: the chocolate, the flowers, the card, the candles, the sweet words whispered in your ear. Each has a lovely root in our culture but has become a culprit for the cheesy, store-bought signs of affection that make us roll our eyes each Valentine’s Day. This is our way of giving you some fresh ideas. We call it A Recipe for Romance. It’s all of those expected things reinvented a little bit.
Like any Recipe, you’ll need a little image inspiration to get started. We were inspired by the beauty of old world romance – specifically the moody still life images from the Renaissance – the time when everything was reinvented. We hope you find dreamy inspiration from this and that you enjoy surprising your love with homemade and thoughtful handmade romance all year long.
