Modern Barn Wedding in New Zealand
We couldn’t be more in love with today’s wedding from Courtney Horwood Photography and Rosies Wildfower Co, which showcases an updated take on the classic barn wedding. Everything is so clean and airy, and the bride’s Karen Willis Holmes wedding dress is positively the icing on the cake.
From the bride, Connor: To be honest I got pretty carried away with my Pinteresting throughout the months leading up to the wedding and the “style” kept changing from one week to the next! I guess it ended up being a rustic/vintage theme. Lots of hessian, lace, jars, doilies, old suitcases and lots of flowers to fill them with.
The theme colour was blush and pastels. We did a lot of DIY — almost all of the decorations were hand made. I was lucky enough to have an amazing bunch of friends and family that helped bring our day to life.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? It’s never too early! I left so many things till the last minute which was stressful. Looking back I definitely wish I had started making all my bits and bobs from the moment we set our date.

From the photographer, Courtney Horwood: After being together for a couple of years and having 3 gorgeous kids Connor and Lex got married a couple of months ago. It was pretty special having the kids be a part of their wedding day too! Conveniently a beautiful new wedding venue had opened up just a few minutes down the road from their house! Nestled in amongst the trees Old Forest School is an Old School that has been renovated to because a beautiful new wedding venue in New Zealand. Connor styled most of the day herself, with the helps of family and friends and a very talented local florist. I love the little touches from the day, a bucket of flowers for girls to put in their hair. A cake she decorated herself, homemade jam for presents. Simple and elegant just like the bride herself.
