Luxe Urban Romance Wedding Inspiration
When this shoot calls itself “urban romance”, it really means it — the styled wedding takes place in the heart of downtown Charlottesville, surrounded by small businesses and local artists. The team of Robert Radifera, Shindig Weddings and Events, Southern Blooms, and so many more crafted a truly chic tablescape with rich color tones complemented by a gorgeous couple and their equally adorable mini wedding party.
From the photographer, Robert Radifera: This styled shoot was inspired by the natural romance of Charlottesville’s urban Downtown Mall. While Charlottesville is known for its rustic barn and sweet vineyard venues, it is also home to a bustling pedestrian mall that showcases small businesses, innovative restaurants, and area artists. This shoot was a collaborative effort between The Catering Outfit, Robert Radifera Photography, Southern Blooms, Shindig Weddings and Events, and Festive Fare Rentals (among other participating vendors); we collectively envisioned a beautiful, metropolitan dinner reception in the heart of the historic Downtown Mall.
Our vision was to depart from the traditional big box, “white princess dress” wedding and create something that was infused with color, metallic components, and unexpected texture that would pay tribute to the industrial nature of its surroundings while still incorporating soft and organic touches. Our multi-ethnic models– from bride and groom to the adorable “flower children”– were outfitted in simple, modern, and refined attire that reflected the understated chic flair of Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall. Our reception table was set up in the middle of the Mall and the crowning glory of the event was when the shoot transitioned into a real dinner party for the participating vendors and friends later that evening! The four course feast was prepared by Chef Walter of The Catering Outfit.
The story told in these photos is one of a refined, modern romance nestled in an unexpectedly metropolitan setting and flush with lovely details. Our hope is that it appeals to readers planning any style of wedding this winter and spring!
