Intimate Vancouver Wedding A Color Burst of Citrus

Lily & Jonathan

Nothing says fruitilicious, like an intimate Vancouver wedding boasting a color palette inspired by every citrus treat under the sun! This inspiration shoot turned real elopement has truly captured our hearts, and we cannot wait for you to dive into Blush Wedding Photography‘s cheery images from Lily and Jonathan’s day in the gallery below. Petite Pearl Events combined ultra romantic candlelight with modern romantic furniture, velvet + rattan textures and abstract shapes to create a wholeheartedly unique look from start to finish. And don’t even get us started on the lush rainbow blooms from Celsia Floral – ranunculi, peonies and dahlias, oh my! What are you waiting for?!

From the Planner & Designer, Petite Pearl Events: What started as a styled shoot, planned for months and then postponed for months due to Covid, turned into an opportunity to give one couple whose wedding was cancelled due to Covid-19, the most unforgettable elopement with their closest family members.

Once the Covid-19 quarantine restrictions eased up in British Columbia, we were able to reschedule a date for a styled shoot that we and so many other vendors had already committed to prior to Covid-19. We had invested so much time and energy dreaming up the ideas and working with vendors to bring it to life that we simply couldn’t let our vision go to waste. And what all of us vendors needed most, was something fun and beautiful to work on and be a part of during an otherwise very frustrating and upsetting time.

That said, it just did NOT feel right to spend all of our time, energy and money into bringing a styled shoot to life when so many couples’ plans were being destroyed or postponed. Therefore, I decided that for us to move forward with the styled shoot, we needed to allow a special couple to actually get married in the styled ceremony set up. The Wallace Venue, Celsia Floral and Blush Wedding Photography couldn’t agree more.

We decided to do a Giveaway, asking on our social media outlets for couples whose wedding plans were affected by Covid, to submit a letter about what had happened and why they’d love this opportunity to still make their marriage official even if their plans were totally cancelled or the big celebration postponed to 2021.

Lily and Jonathan were the winners. Their plans had been ruined by Covid, their original wedding date a mere four days later than the styled shoot was planned for, at a venue across the street from where the styled shoot would take place AND their immediate family who was in town for their original wedding date, was still going to be in town on the date of the styled shoot even though the wedding was cancelled. In addition to that, the images they provided with their submission was of their engagement session in Positano and the theme of our styled shoot was inspired by the Amalfi Coast so it all just felt like fate.

We organized a Marriage Commissioner for the day and this incredible couple, Lily and Jonathan, along with their parents and siblings arrived glowing from head to toe to say their I Do’s in the most beautifully styled ceremony. They did not arrive empty handed, along with more Thank-Yous than we could have asked for, they brought all of the vendors boxes of the most delicious doughnuts. This was our first real ceremony to witness in 2020 after having to postpone almost our entire year of weddings to 2021. It was extremely special, lifted all of our spirits and brought those of us in an extremely affected industry hope for the future.

Blush Wedding Photography was incredibly generous and in addition to photographing the styled shoot, offered to capture the entire ceremony as well as family portraits. The couple were so lovely and also hired Blush Wedding Photography for some additional time following the ceremony to capture more of this memorable day offsite at a different outdoor location. Celsia Floral went above and beyond by generously gifting the bride and groom the most stunning bouquet and boutonniere for their special day and The Wallace Venue graciously allowed us to host this special occasion in their gorgeous space.

In terms of inspiration for the styling, florals and chosen decor pieces: Amalfi Romance were the two words chosen as the inspiration behind the day. However, a modern industrial venue in Vancouver, BC is far from the Italian coast. Through the use of bright, sorbet tones, lush linens and heavy texture, plus the use of fresh fruit, the modern industrial space became an al-fresco Italian affair, with an emphasis on intimate, yet casual elegance.

Lily & Jonathan

In an effort to show off just how intimate a large industrial space can be, the focus of the design was on creating intimate areas for guests to witness love, wine, dine and celebrate. A large asymmetrical floral hanging [from Celsia Floral] was used to frame the ceremony space, and highlight the venue’s high ceilings, natural light and clean lines. Flanked by white pillar candles and peachy, tonal candlesticks [from Camilia Supply], the ceremony space is fresh and bright, but warm and intimate. Guests were individually seated on poufs and ottomans, with organic floral arrangements to add life and movement to the set-up.

A large styled lounge served as a beautiful place for the couple to sign their Marriage License and for family portraits; an additional styled element to a casual evening. Large floral arrangements flanked the sorbet-toned furniture [sourced from Bespoke Decor] and softened the straight, clean lines of the modern venue. A large rattan rug provided a warm organic way to enclose the lounge, and soft, tonal velvet furniture added additional luxe texture to the seating area.

The tablescape brought the Amalfi Romance inspiration full circle by embracing the colours and tones of an evening on the beaches of Positano. Natural-coloured rattan dining chairs added a soft sandy tone to the tablescape and complemented the lush ocean blue of the velvet linen. Sunset toned taper candles were used to add a tonal element to the tablescape and to play off the to sorbet tones of the ikebana-inspired floral arrangements.

Keeping the tablescape details simple, yet thoughtful, thick-rimmed ivory plates, gold cutlery with clean lines and classic glassware created a tablescape that was both elegant, yet casual, just like an evening in Italy. Fresh fruit was added to the tablescape and served as a beautiful way to add both organic texture and bright melon tones to the design.

As a finishing touch, handmade acrylic and rattan placecards [by Petite Pearl Events] marked each setting and were complemented by modern horizontal menus [made by JNRL]. A bold, modern sorbet-toned invitation suite completed the design, with a custom envelope, map and RSVP card.
