Gothic Victorian Styled Wedding

We love good Halloween inspiration in all its forms, so this Victorian-inspired wedding shoot was right up our alley. Amanda Cowley Sweet Events and Eva Derrick Photography put together this sweet session in the heart of Canada, which blends the best of burgundy tones and Halloween spookiness.

From the planner, Amanda of Amanda Cowley Sweet Events: Staying true to traditional elements that come to mind when one thinks of Halloween was definitely the driving force behind our design & theme for this ‘Gothic Victorian’ inspired shoot. Incorporating classic details such as black lace, antique gold place settings, vintage wine coloured glassware, glitter dipped feathers and lush, fully saturated blood red florals helped pull our Gothic Victorian theme into the forefront, while just the right amount of black and ivory stripes added a fun Beetlejuice touch that any Halloween wedding so desperately deserves! Bookshelves chock-block with oddities and curiosities from a time long ago flanked our tasty yet terrifying candy display, where one could pick their poison of glossy sweets and sugary treats.

A black lace trimmed cake complete with sexy Gothic-inspired sugar skull mistress and the whole ensemble came together in horrifying harmony. Strategically styling our models around the theme pulled the whole shoot together, with our groom dressed dark and sexy yet casual in a fitted tuxedo stripped down to just the longer jacket, pants and dress shirt left undone. Our bride carried the Victorian element even further in a lace Allure gown with keyhole back, fabric covered buttons and lace trimmed mantilla veil. Blood red lips and a full floral crown complimented our bride’s dark features, which emphasized the Victorian theme. All of this taking place on the grounds of 140 year old Queen Anne Revival inspired Victorian Mansion in Niagara on the Lake; the images can almost transport you to a dark and eerie time, one of prestige, class and a definitive style. Our Gothic Victorian inspired shoot will inspire not only brides and grooms planning a Halloween wedding, but those with a soft spot for all things mysterious, sexy and simply stunning.

  • Those florals are MAJOR. I have not seen the like.

And seriously? Those glitter dipped feathers will be showing up all over the net now. Brilliant.

  • I really don’t like the big flowers on the bride’s hair.. she is so pretty and her hair is beautiful, so she don’t needs so much flowers on her head.. buut.. I really love the rest of the wedding.. the lovely details, the dresses and the setting.. it’s an amazing theme for a wedding and I really enjoyed to see the pictures.. wish I’ve been on this wedding =)
