Dark and Moody Wedding Editorial at Château Ste-Agnès
At Château Ste-Agnès, love was celebrated in all its radiant forms as a same-sex couple graced the historic grounds for a gorgeous dark and moody wedding editorial. Nestled in the heart of Quebec’s wine country, the château’s timeless elegance and breathtaking scenery provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with beauty, intimacy, and joy.
This editorial not only showcases the magic of the venue but also honors the diversity of love, capturing the essence of a modern fairy tale in a setting steeped in history and romance, all beautifully orchestrated by Foudamour. The stunning florals by Atelier Carmel, expertly captured through the lens of Cagdas Yoldas, bring the scene to life. Get ready to fall in love all over again.
The venue, Château Ste-Agnès, dating back to 1846, seems to have emerged straight out of a fairy tale, where time stands still. Passing through the gate instantly transports you into a world of romance!
When Melanie Aubin, wedding designer & planner at Foudamour, came across the raspberry-colored wall of a room at Château Ste-Agnès on the web, inspiration struck for this editorial. She envisioned a heavy summer sky, an atmosphere filled with the scent of ripe fruits and grapes on the vines, a romantic and dramatic ambiance inspired by still life, a pictorial genre practiced by all the great masters in art history.
Our creative journey was dedicated not only to capturing the very essence of femininity with a same-sex couple but also to show that every bride can define femininity in her own way. We wanted to highlight all the senses – touch, smell, taste, and sight – and breathe life into the usually inanimate wedding decor elements. Through a palette of deep and rich colors, we translated the artistry of yesteryears into a modern-day narrative, carefully crafting a moody ambiance that lent depth and intrigue to each frame, weaving an enchanting tapestry of emotions.
From the boutique Dream it Yourself, the Huntleigh gown by Australian brand Jane Hill exudes confident femininity. This sultry, contemporary crepe wedding dress features a gorgeous fitted corset-structured bodice with a sweetheart neckline, a high slit, and a fit and flare silhouette. Its detachable train adds a glamorous touch, perfect for a wedding in a castle! To complete the look, we opted for gloves, the ultimate accessory for the modern princess.
Exquisitely executed by Atelier Carmel, the floral arrangements take center stage in the decor. They are small works of art in themselves! In a palette of delectable shades, they overflow, go beyond, run wild, just like life itself. We particularly love the extra-large boutonniere on our model’s tuxedo!
All the decor elements, sourced from Locations Chic, alternate between highly decorative and minimalism, as we aimed to create a Renaissance-inspired wedding firmly rooted in modernity. The decorative volute chargers and cut crystal glassware coexist with delicate table napkins and sleek candle holders. The black chairs and cutlery also bring a contemporary touch to the whole setting.
The stationery, crafted by White Willow Paper & Co, also blends old and current design elements. The chosen color palette evokes the dark and dramatic tones of 18th-century paintings. One can easily imagine a baroness or countess opening this envelope, don’t you think?
When it comes to indulgence, the cake made by Sonia at Émotions gâteaux is sure to awaken our senses! Four tiers of sweet pleasure, decorative elements reminiscent of the drapery of the finest fabrics, transparency, and texture. This cake is like the jewel of a crown!
In this picturesque setting at Château Ste-Agnès, where the allure of old-world charm meets modern sensibility, a beautiful tale of love and creativity unfolds, leaving behind a trail of memories that will be cherished forever.
