Tuscan Still Life Wedding Shoot

In the past few years it seems like romantic wedding inspiration has practically gone hand in hand with pastel hues. While we will always love pastels, this styled shoot from Olivia Leigh Photographie and Fleur keeps the focus on lots of romantic ideas, but uses a bold color palette with rich berry tones for a look that’s a bit more contemporary and absolutely out of this world.

From the photographer, Olivia of Olivia Leigh Photographie: Kelly Marie from Fleur and I together did creative direction on the shoot last spring and devised a beautiful theme inspired by classic still life paintings and an Italian countryside feel. In the past few years we’ve seen such a return back to soft, classic, romantic palettes with lots of pastels, blush, and cream (which are all so beautiful), and we were very interested to work together to create a shoot to showcase more contrasting, richer tones. Typically when we see bolder colors they are done in more of a “fun” or “party” style and we really strove to show that you can still an elegant, incredibly classic style while still incorporating richer colors that can really look so amazing in photographs!

Kelly did all floral styling which was just incredible, using vintage furniture and table top wear from re:Find Joy and Nimblewell, and Elysia Root did a gorgeous cake with a custom painted design on it. Alissa from Feast Calligraphy did amazing calligraphy for our table settings and menu cards that showcased a seasonal rustic menu concept, and we did a custom (and easy DIY!) amaro favor/bar to keep on trend (amaro is super hot in Chicago right now!) and provide a unique alternative to a regular signature cocktail. Our beautiful bride model, Hailey, wore a gorgeous Sarah Seven lace gown that carried through the romantic and dramatic but easy feel of the shoot. Shannon O’Brien created beautiful makeup looks for our bride and bridesmaid, with a bold lip on the bride and smokey eyes on the bridesmaid, and Danielle Keller did gorgeous romantic hairstyling that felt classic but still had relaxed modern twists with a braid for part of the shoot.

I really LOVE this shoot and I hope you will agree! I think it has a romantic and classic feel while still hopefully offering something a little fresh and different to readers that we hope will inspire them to consider some different palettes!
