Rainy Day Wedding at Fernbrook Farms
They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, and it’s a good thing because Gwen and Dan’s wedding had a surprise downpour right as the ceremony began. The couple took it all in stride, and it even made for lots of smiles and laughter all caught by the photographer, Pat Furey. Their plant-infused reception is full of incredible inspiration for any garden lover!
From the bride, Gwen: We envisioned the wedding to compliment the beautiful outdoor setting of Fernbrook Farms with plenty of personal touches that spoke to our style as a couple including antiques and our love of nature.
Bouquet recipe: Light Pink Blush Garden Roses (Keira and White Ohara), Bridal Akito Roses, White & Light Pink Majolica Spray Roses; Silver Brunia Balls; Scabiosa Pods & Light Peach Hypericum, Succulents, Lambs ear.
The colors were blush and dusty green. We had lots of DIY! We decided on planted flowers, herbs and greens for the centerpieces which the bride’s mother and sister planted. We made all of the programs, menus, escort cards/escort card display, favors and table numbers which all featured a floral paper I fell in love with from Rifle Paper Co that was a part of our wedding invitation.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Have fun with the planning and give yourself plenty of time for an engagement. We had just over a year of planning and I felt like it was the perfect amount of time to really enjoy the process. I had a timeline checklist I used on the knot which kept me on track of what I should be doing when. It also doesn’t hurt to marry a wonderful guy who is engaged enough where they give you an opinion, but not too involved to really just let you do your thing!
