Laguna Beach Wedding with an Elegant Twist
Such a good wedding, this one is. Not only is it a beach-side wedding done right, but the entire day is a touching homage to the bride’s grandmother who passed away shortly after bride Aileen met her husband-to-be. Thank you Vis Photography and A Good Affair for your beautiful work on this one!
From the bride, Aileen: Inspired by love and the mass beauty of the ocean. When we got engaged, I knew there was one person I wished could be at my wedding. My grandmother. She passed away shortly after I met Adam. The day she passed away, a hummingbird came to me, and ever since that moment, a hummingbird has been part of every important day in our lives. Because of this, I knew I needed to be married outside. That’s where my grandma lives. I knew she would find a way to be at my wedding.
We selected the Montage Laguna Beach because the moment we saw the space, we could feel a soft, calm energy about it. The ocean was at peace, completely overcome by life. It was perfect. Like most girls, I’ve dreamed of my wedding since I was five years old. I’d have strawberry shortcake as my wedding cake, and cookies for favors, and I’d marry the man of my dreams. I got all of the grown up versions of those things. I had a vision of monochromatic neutral colors, romantic white flowers, accented with moss, and raw lavender – to not take away from the natural beauty of the sea. I wanted something small and intimate, so as to only be surrounded by the people I love most in the world. Live music with my favorite songs. I wanted layers of interest, vintage charm, and a setting that exuded soft, elegant romance “al fresco.” Something timeless. Personal. Completely custom to our taste. Natalie Good and the team at A Good Affair Event and Productions designed and brought my vision to life, while incorporating a million personal details and finishing touches.
Vis Photography were my dream photographers. Their work is amazing and I knew their style and artistry could capture the essence of the most important day of our life. Every important day that followed, would only be because two people fell in love, got married and decided they’d be best friends forever. The pictures were the most important part of the wedding, as I am set on sharing them with our future grandchildren. No one ever says, “I wish I had less pictures of our wedding.” The pictures are perfect. The distinct beauty of the ocean, the creativity and design of Natalie Good, and the artistry of Vis Photography, made for the most magnificent Southern California day at the beach. And yes, my sweet hummingbird made her way to my wedding. She was present the entire day. My favorite was when she showed up moments before I walked down the aisle and just stood with me. My grandma found a way to be there. Leah Vis captured it.
