Modern Ace Hotel Wedding
Oh, Ace Hotel, how we love thee. Is there any space more ideal for a retro-meets-modern wedding? Lauren and Derek’s day was just such a wedding, filled with no shortage of glamorous details! Jenavieve Belair and Billy Pruden of Carly Rae Design knocked this one way out of the park.
From the bride, Lauren: Derek and I have a long history… starting with a 14-year friendship that quickly changed with a single kiss 7 years ago. We wanted a space to celebrate our adventure and our wedding weekend was just that. A weekend to celebrate our incredible circle of family and friends who have loved and nurtured us to the moon and back.
Bouquet recipe: Succulents, white tulips, yellow billy buttons, eucalyptus, baby’s breath, and white hydrangeas.
We wanted a weekend that was playful, yet chic. Modern, yet classic. We wanted GOLD… and we got gold. From beach balls in the pool to gold flamingos surrounding our ceremony/cocktail hour space… Reggae cocktail hour to family style fried chicken and mac and cheese, we made it our day. Our theme was “desert chic” and our colors were black, white, nude, and gold (sequins and glitter). We made the signs and spray painted the flamingos gold. Billy of Carly Rae Design made our black and gold glittered aisle runner which rocked my world.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? You’re celebrating a marriage, a life long party… not just planning a day. When you get in a tiff with your fiancé about costs (I promise it will happen), blurt out “I love you” right in the middle of a sentence. It will remind you what matters most. Don’t stop eating dessert in an attempt to slim down. These people love you in sweats with messy hair and happy equals gorgeous. Your wedding is about standing next to the person you’re crazy about, in front of your nearest and dearest, and promising to love each other forever. THAT is what makes the perfect wedding.

Ace Hotel weddings are the best! A little bit funky, a little bit lovely… and definitely always with a lot of personality.
