A Multicultural Wedding With Blue And White Hydrangeas
Something old, something new; Something borrowed, something blue. It’s the latter of these wedding traditions that caught my eye when I was first introduced to Annie and Sean’s multicultural wedding with blue and white hydrangeas. But a second perusal had me appreciating the old traditions – red + gold lanterns and blue + white ginger jars nodding to the bride’s Asian heritage and Union Jack bunting and that iconic red telephone booth emblazened with the British crown paying homage to the groom’s. As for what was borrowed? I suppose you could say eskimo kisses from the couple’s tux-donning English bulldog, Rex, and their adorable “pandemic baby”. As objectively beautiful as the fresh-clipped blooms from BM Floral Botanica (are you kidding me with those blue hydrangeas wedding bouquets + aisle markers?!) and smart design details coordinated by Joyful Events by Gaby certainly were, it was the stolen glances captured by Leslie Margarita Photography that really made our hearts melt. The bridesmaids fawning over Annie’s elegant dress reveal, the tap-tap on Sean’s shoulder before he sees his bride for the first time, the twilight kiss beneath the arbor or white roses… it’s a love story we’ll be telling again and again (and for good measure, again).
From the Photographer, Leslie Margarita Photography: This unique covid rescheduled wedding featured a diverse fusion of the bride and groom’s cultural chinese and british backgrounds with a beautiful “something blue” touch to their garden wedding. Two special guests made an appearance that day! Their “bonus” pandemic baby and their first fur baby, Rex.
The garden charm is strong in this Houston wedding with blue and white hydrangeas (not unlike this Fairhope, Alabama take on the iconic variety). The couple was radiant, the traditions were strong and the guest list was full – what more could you ask for in a wedding initially postponed from the pandemic? Annie and Sean are optimism personified, and we feel so fortunate to have shared their story with you today.
