Coastal Bride Wedding Editorial

A beach-y bride meets bohemian style in this ever-so-dreamy editorial from Apryl Ann Photography and Michelle Lywood. One of our favorite aspects of this shoot is that the bouquet was inspired by an abstract painting, proving the possibilities for finding inspiration for your wedding day are truly endless. Amy Clarke‘s work on hair and makeup shines here, and we’d be kidding ourselves if we tried to deny our dreams of having her style us every day!

From the florist, Michelle Lywood: I had recently seen an abstract painting that was a beautiful blend of many different colors with no defined forms. As an artist, it reminded me that letting go of control and creating without boundaries can lead to unexpected results. My mindset was simply to find the best blooms available and anything that I was excited to work with regardless of my typical concerns when planning a design.

I came across miraculously large dark red tree peonies, apricot colored garden roses with intricate details in how their petals had bloomed, strikingly jewel toned purple clematis, and breathtakingly delicate rose bushes. I really let the flowers dictate where the design was going. The colors were a pretty unique combination, but I loved how each flower maintained its integrity and was able to shine while still working together as a whole in the bouquet. The softness of the rose bushes was the perfect juxtaposition against the coastal rocks. And when life hands you giant peonies, you celebrate with a bold headpiece. Everything came together beautifully, and the whole process felt refreshingly natural.
