California Art Gallery Wedding

Chuck Jones Center by 24 Carrots was such a perfect venue for this Orange County wedding that you’d never even imagine it wasn’t their original venue plan. After shifting from a barn to an art gallery, A Charming Occasion got to work rounding out an elegant affair that highlighted the love between Lauren and Ernie and shone brilliantly in images from Anna Delores Photography.

From the bride, Lauren: We wanted close friends, family, and lots of fun. Both us wanted the day to feel comfortable and nothing too stuffy. At the end of the day, we wanted the wedding to feel like US. My wedding planner, Joelle from A Charming Occasion, created a mood board with elements of jewel tones. It wasn’t just about color when planning our wedding, but patterns and tones for the day. To describe the look of the wedding, it was rustic glamour. We had lots of gold, black and white patterns, combined with pendant banners and chalkboard signs.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Our biggest advice for couples planning our wedding is to hire a wedding planner!! Even if it’s just a day of wedding coordinator, you will be able to enjoy your wedding without a worry in the world. It was amazing to know while we were getting ready, our wedding planner had everything in control. She was coordinating with vendors, arranging the room and putting final touches for the reception. When we walked in the venue, we were blown away. No way we could have done it all without the help of a wedding planner.

From the event designer, Joelle Duff of A Charming Occasion: We went through a few different concepts before coming to the idea of using jewel tones throughout the design. Their original venue was a barn, and we eventually changed to the art gallery later, which was absolutely perfect for both their personalities and the aesthetic we were going for. I didn’t want to detract from the natural simplicity and lighting of the space, especially since there was art everywhere, so I tried to insert pops of color here and there rather than fill the space with anything unnatural. This wedding was special for me in a variety of ways, mainly because I’d had the fortune of getting to know Lauren through our blogs long before her wedding day. She trusted me with my own vision, knowing that since I knew her personality and priorities, I’d be able to create something unique and intimate, especially for them.
I always say that I consider a wedding a “success” if I cry, and let me tell you, I nearly bawled at this one. Lauren and Ernie were (and still are, of course) very much in love, and it showed. Not only that, but they really just wanted their friends and family to have a great time! I am so fortunate that I was able to bring Lauren’s vision to life through my own design, and that she trusted me enough to do my thing and her flowers without much interference. It was most definitely a memorable experience, and everything flowed so smoothly on the day of the wedding. I don’t think any of us could have asked for more!
