Creative Carlsbad Wedding
Today’s wedding from Megan Ann Photography has the cheeriness of bright blues and yellows with a little pop of gold sparkle in the bride’s Christian Louboutin pumps. The newlyweds designated each table with a different state that holds special meaning to them — just the kind of personal touch we love!
From the bride, Elizabeth: I grew up in Southern California, but Jeremy and I live in Boston and had more out of town guests than local friends and family. We really wanted to give our out of town guests a feel for Southern California. The location was the first thing we chose – Levyland gave our guests the Southern California beach atmosphere, but was a pretty blank slate for us to work with!
Instead of choosing a color scheme, my mom and I picked out a fabric line that we incorporated into many of the wedding’s elements. I picked Joel Dewberry’s Modern Meadow as I loved the colors and felt like it really would bring out the best in the setting (plus, Jeremy’s favorite color – and eyes – are blue).
My mom and I are very crafty, and, as a result, the DIY projects were plentiful: I designed all of our invitations, Jeremy screen printed them, and a whole bunch of friends helped with assembly. I made all of the escort cards, table numbers, and signage, along with the guest book, my mom quilted gorgeous table runners for each of the tables, made the ring bearer pillow, and we made chocolate dipped pretzels as seating cards, all of the guys’ boutonnieres and ties. Friends of ours transformed the cinder block garage into a beautiful, soft dance floor covered in ribbons, with custom lighting.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? One of my favorite things was the small ways I incorporated our parents and grandparents special days into ours – we used my parents’ toasting flutes, my grandparents’ (and aunt/uncle; mom/dad) cake toppers; his grandparents’ cake servers. I also wore my grandmother’s ring and carried a hankie from his grandmother. Those small things meant the world to me, and to our families and added a wonderful family touch to the wedding.

I was in Girl Scouts with the brides mother, I watched Elizabeth grow up. Their crafts have always been outstanding. This beautiful wedding was the so creative it is beyond words. The wedding was so full of love. They should be in the unique wedding planning business.
