California Elopement Inspired by Provence

Every time I look at this wedding from Desiree Shuey Photography and Brier Rose Design, my mind tricks me into thinking it’s a destination wedding in Provence. It’s due in no small part to the 400-year-old chapel originated from Dijon, France — the shining star of Cal-A-Vie. Let’s jump on in and daydream about being in Provence, shall we?

From the bride, Sharlyn: After searching for months for the perfect property for our elopement, we chose Cal-A-Vie Health and Wellness Spa in Vista, California. I had bought my dress at the beginning of 2013, and knew we both wanted to plan the elopement venue around my dress… and Cal-A-Vie was just exceptionally perfection for exactly what we had envisioned. We toured the location and immediately fell in love with the 400 year old chapel from Dijon, France. The breathtaking grounds, all of the imported from France artifacts, and the architecture served as the perfect backdrop for our very special, and long-awaited day.

I decided to have Desiree of Desiree Shuey Photography document our special day based on her unique style and the fact she has witnessed mine and Rick’s relationship bloom over the years. She watched us begin to date, listened to our stories, photographed our engagement session and I trusted that she would capture our special moments better than anybody else. When searching for the perfect bouquet, I received a recommendation from my photographer. After viewing pictures of Collette’s work, I knew that her style would match my dress, our style and the venue perfectly. She was given complete free range in creating the bouquet, and she did not disappoint! I absolutely loved my bouquet!

The skilled beauty staff was attentive to every detail while preparing us for our special day. The intimate environment and grounds depicted just that of a French Provencal village. It was as if we were right in the heart of France for our sweet day. Thank you to Cal-A-Vie, Desiree Shuey Photography and Collette Budd for making our day everything we ever imagined.
