Brooklyn Bridge Park Wedding

This week couldn’t have started off in a better way than with this Brooklyn wedding, setting the tone for yet another week of stylish couples. Julie Pepin Photographer shot their wedding in Dumbo, where Victoria and Justin exchanged vows at one of my favorite places: Brooklyn Bridge park, with Manhattan’s skyline as the backdrop. So without further ado:

From the bride, Victoria:
The Ceremony –
Our ceremony was on a tiny pebble beach with Manhattan as the backdrop. The DUMBO area of Brooklyn, tucked into the shadows of the bridges with it’s cobblestone streets and Old-New York feel could not have been more perfect. As the trains went by in the distance and curious tourists looked on, all we could see was each other. It’s amazing how a ceremony in such a public place could feel so intimate and quiet.

The Reception –
After the ceremony, the guests walked down the street to reBar, which is in a beautiful loft space in an old reclaimed tea factory. The walls are filled with the work of local artists and are lit by antique chandeliers and candlelight. In the lounge area, they let us play an old Disney film we love from the 30’s called Flowers & Trees on loop. We filled the wooden shelves with childhood photos and wedding portraits of those who came before us. There was no assigned seating, no stuffy sit down dinner. Instead, we had an all night-long cocktail “hour” with all sorts of comfort food and strong drinks flowing throughout the evening. We had what I proudly claim to be the smallest wedding cake in history. It was the size of an old 45 and covered with rainbow sprinkles. Perfection.

My Favorite Moment –
My most treasured moment from a day filled with nothing but treasured moments, was when we had our first look at one another. As I walked towards him I felt like I was in a cloud. Everything seemed to be in a slight, beautiful blur. When I finally faced him it was surreal. It was him and I, all dressed up in our special grown up wedding clothes, giggling with each other that it was finally here, it was all happening. And in my mind, at that moment, staring at one another in awe, without saying anything at all, is when we really said “I do”.
