Fun Wedding Celebration at Brooklyn Winery

Fun, modern, and flower-filled — today’s wedding comes with the full package. Redfield Photography and Peartree Flowers did beautiful work for McKenzie and Carlo’s wedding, which took place at the always-a-winner Brooklyn Winery. The darling couple married on the wedding anniversary of the bride’s grandparents, a special nod to family we just adore!

From the bride, McKenzie: Because we got married in the winter, we wanted the space to feel like a warm, cozy respite from the cold (which really worked out because it snowed the morning of!). I also work in the wedding industry so my mind was racing with ideas once we got engaged, but we ultimately kept it fairly simple with a few special details. We have been together for 7 years so we wanted it to feel like a celebration of our family and friends as well for their support along the way. Neither of us grew up in New York, but Brooklyn is our home now and the Brooklyn Winery isn’t far from our apartment. The weekend was a great time for people to check out some of our favorite spots and see why we love this city so much. We got married on my grandparent’s wedding anniversary and my grandmother (Nanny) was there with us that day. We did several little things to honor her and she was the star of the dance floor!

We used gold and a really dark navy as our main colors and then mixed in lucite for the table numbers and seating chart. Our florist used a lot of greenery and some pops of purple in the flower arrangements. We didn’t do any DIY. The flowers were one element where I 110% trusted the person we hired. I met with Liza Lubell of Peartree one time before the wedding and described the look and feel we were going for without any direction for specific flowers as I’m just not educated in that realm. She totally nailed it! I was absolutely blown away when I saw the flowers and garlands she hung around the space. Her work is very unstructured and flowy which matched the space and our vision perfectly.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t stress the small stuff! There are so many tiny elements that go into planning a wedding, but at the end of the day you are marring your love and nothing else matters. Hire people that you can put your complete trust in so you aren’t dealing with any issues that may arise. At this point in my career, I have shot over 200 weddings and that is still the #1 piece of advice I would give my clients after going through it myself!
