Blooming Wedding Inspiration

Ever since this styled shoot loosely inspired by Frida Kahlo landed in our inbox, we haven’t been able to take our eyes off it. Every bit is styled impeccably – from the gold place setting, to the floral crown, to the groom’s dapper blue checked suit, to the lush burgundy bouquet. Milton Photography, Birds & Honey Events, and Akiko Floral Artistry absolutely outdid themselves with this one!

From the event designer, Mona of Birds & Honey Events: Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón, better known as Frida Kahlo, has always been an inspiration to me. Frida, to me, was the epitome of a beautiful and “confident in all the right ways” kind of woman. Frida Kahlo was a “gem” in the truest and strongest sense of the word. Ever since I was a little girl I felt such a deep connection to her. Her eyes, her lips. I remember falling in love over and over again with her and her art. All those colours. All those colours and emotions she evoked. She was a revolutionary gal who liked to live in constant self-expression; I believe this is most evident in her art, the way she dressed, and the way she carried herself. She basically never gave a damn what anyone thought of her. I have always wanted to pay tribute to this beautiful woman and I soon began dreaming of how I could bring all of those beautiful colors and emotions to life as wedding inspiration for those brides who were wanting a wedding that was both soft and powerful all at the same time.
