Sign us up for a good tropical destination wedding, especially at this time of the year! This Bali destination wedding is just not beyond gorgeous, it’s a true testament for marrying two cultures so beautifully. Being a globetrotter, Marc + Arielle have seen and been to different places but for them, Bali is exceptional. Can we blame them? Aside from its picturesque scenery, the Balinese vibrant culture is not to miss. And for this multicultural couple, Villa The Sanctuary Bali is the perfect place to say “I do”. Planned by Hari Indah and florals designed by Bloomz Bali Weddings, check out this glorious tropical destination fete captured by The Fashion Wedding.
Having a destination wedding is now a popular choice among engaged couples and Bali is one of the most sought-after havens to exchange their sacred vows in. With an abundance of breathtaking landscapes and unique terrains, various wedding venues of all shapes, sizes, and styles have settled in the island.
Words from the bride, Arielle:
Marc and I live in Shanghai but we’re both originally from the United States. We wanted to bring our families to Asia for a destination wedding but somewhere they hadn’t been before. We’ve both been fortunate to have lived and traveled all over the world … and somehow Bali still has a sense of magic and unrefined beauty like no other place we’ve ever been. The people, the culture, the landscape … Bali is so vibrant and colorful, yet at the same time so serene and spiritual. Bali is pure magic.
My favorite color is emerald. It’s a stone and color which is sentimental to me as it’s the birthstone of both Marc and my baby and also the stone for the month of our wedding — May! So when we decided on Bali as the location for our wedding, I knew I wanted it to be in the jungle where hues of green and emerald would be all around. For a wedding backdrop, I couldn’t have dreamed of a more perfect location. It’s lush, tropical, exotic and romantic.
Marc is a CrossFit athlete and athletic performance coach and I’m a brand strategist for an advertising agency. We met in Shanghai at his gym and it was love at first sight … for him! It took me a little longer to realize he was the one, but once I did I embarked on the most incredible adventure with the most amazing man. He’s kind, patient, funny and beyond loving. We were blessed with a little baby girl early on in our relationship and since the day she was born she has completed our small little family and brought us so much happiness. Being able to share our wedding with her was also very special and we hope that she inherits our love for travel and our passion for adventure!”
The theme for the décor was: tropical chic with modern Balinese accents
But our wedding was the culmination of so many cultures and traditions so we welcomed our guests with a sign that read: “Welcome to our Balinese-Jewish-Filipino-American-Chinese Wedding Extravaganza!”
The décor and the entertainment were the most important to me. I wanted my guests to be visually WOWed, but also have the time of their lives. We included many elements of Bali into the décor: white Balinese umbrellas, bamboo floating lanterns, batik napkins, and local tropical flowers. For the entertainment, we had traditional Rindik (Balinese percussionists) and also Balinese dancers. We also kept guests entertained throughout the night with a choreographed first dance, a traditional Filipino money dance, and a Khlezmer band for the Jewish wedding dances.
Since we live in Shanghai we wanted to bring our families to Asia for a destination wedding, but somewhere where they hadn’t been before.
