Asbury Park, NJ Wedding
Oh beachy summer days, I just can’t quit you. This wedding shot by Lindsay Taryn Photography took place in Asbury Park, New Jersey and is full of sweet details and whimsy. Maeve and Nate met through match.com, and read their profiles as part of their ceremony vows! I will let Maeve take it from here: We couldn’t decide if we should get married in NJ (near my family) or MN (near Nate’s family). So I made a trend board for each scenario, then we sent it out to both our families and had them vote anonymously. NJ won the vote.
We knew that if we got married by the ocean we didn’t want to do a typical nautical theme. I grew up on the Jersey shore – which may not have the best reputation (*cough*cough* thanks, MTV *cough*) but as a local, the area evokes nostalgia that is much different from the show – I was inspired by vintage boardwalk imagery like confectionery shops, parasols, carousels, seashells, antique arcade games, and postcards. I tried to imagine what the area would have looked like at the turn of the century (19th/20th).

Maeve and Nate had me at ‘non-traditional, fun, and quirky’ – words they used to describe themselves and their wedding. Oh, and the Jersey Shore. They had a whimsical beach wedding on the boardwalk at Asbury Park, where during their ceremony they recited their match.com profiles as vows, had guests play an interactive ‘get to know you’ game, and enjoyed tunes from a barbershop quartet. They also held a hula hooping contest at the reception and devoted two full hours to portraits during their wedding day. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of this wedding celebration!

As a Jersey girl, I love to see a Jersey shore wedding done with class & this beautiful wedding nails it! I love the first photo at the frame of the old Casino, just awesome.
Wow, these are all beautiful! That last one is my favorite though, so whimsical!
My other half & I met in Asbury Park so I love this!
My husband and I met on Match.com. It has always been an “iffy” thing to tell folks…the reactions have been so varied…from amazement and curiosity to O.M.G.
This wedding was so different and non-traditionally FUN. Love it!
The last shot is perfect!! What amazing memories this happy couple will share of their perfect day.
Can you tell me when this wedding took place (what month?)… I’m planning mine now and I am looking into Asbury Park. Trying to figure out which month might be best for the weather.
Can you tell me what month this wedding took place? I am looking into an Asbury Park wedding this summer and am wondering what month might be best for weather. Thanks!
Amazing post. This is epic. I would have loved to have been at that wedding.
