Artsy California Wedding
This wedding is the hot spot where modern meets retro. Anna and Anthony brought oversized modern paintings into a barn, and added Modern Art details sprinkled throughout the rustic setting to create an overall artsy vibe. Then Anna gets just the right touch of vintage by wearing the most amazing vintage green wedding dress and what you get is pure whimsy. Scott of Scott Andrew Studio was in charge behind the lens of this darling 50s inspired wedding.
From the bride: I wanted it to be fun, unique, beautiful and as eco-friendly as possible. Our ceremony and reception were both at Oak Farm Vineyards. The location is beautiful and rustic, yet modern amenities make it perfect for a wedding. The decision was easy because Anthony’s family owns the venue, so we knew it was an easy location for family to get to. I was really excited about having the ceremony out by the grapevines under this huge oak tree. It is just a really pleasant and peaceful place.
I like to say we had a retro, artsy, green wedding. The colors were green and dark grey/pewter, with a touch of orange. Cute retro owls and art were main theme for reception. The ceremony was outside at a vineyard so I wanted to keep it simple and show case the beauty of the nature around us.
I loved the wedding favors we had. My dad is an artist, so he painted little pieces of canvas that I rolled up tied with a ribbon and note from Anthony and I to our guests. We also hung his art in the Barn at our reception. I loved the contrast of the rustic barn and the modern, bright art.
Advice for brides planning their weddings now: DIY projects are great and allow you to customize your wedding but you need A LOT of help and it can take a lot of time. Also, I think you need to have someone in charge for organizing everything especially the day of the wedding. It is important to keep the flow going and make sure guests know where to go and what to do. Also, enjoy it as much as possible because it goes by so fast.
