Alabama Art Museum Wedding
Today’s ever-so-sweet wedding comes from Simply Bloom Photography, who photographed Amy and Jaime as they exchanged vows and celebrated with their dearest family and friends. For their reception, they enjoyed the expanse of a vast white art gallery space, which they filled with vases set on vintage china plates.
From the bride, Amy: Jaime and I wanted our wedding to be warm and inviting. I loved the look of vintage and rustic accents, but had to keep in mind our venue – an art museum. We tried to incorporate elements that we loved that also complemented the space.
I wanted a color palette of “blushes” and being from the south, lines from Steel Magnolias kept working their way into planning conversations. Nevertheless, I gravitated toward the warm pastels, burlap accents, and vintage pieces like the old colored glass bottles that Jaime and I collected before the wedding. We both wanted something that looked pulled together without looking fussy. The weather was unseasonably mild and guests were able to step out onto the terrace to enjoy a spectacular southern sunset. Tea lights in mercury votives and antique chandeliers hanging around the room made the space glow once the sun went down. Latin favorites from the DJ kept the dance floor lively.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Be open-minded. Budgets, weather, details, etc. don’t always go as planned and surprises may come up that require you to go to plan B. In the end, your wedding day will be a celebration with your new husband, your family, and your friends. It won’t matter that the peonies you wanted aren’t in season.
