Rainy Day Mountain Wedding With A Colorfully Modern Twist

Rainy Day Mountain Wedding Bold Color

Holly & Peter’s rainy day mountain wedding saw uninhibited joy reach an all-time high. Ever since Brianne McMullan Events pitched the palette of clementine, raspberry, butterscotch and honeydew, this bright Georgian fĂȘte was all about cheer. And truly, it’s hard to feel anything but cheer when overlooking the tree-studded vista offered up at their ceremony spot. Thirty seconds scrolling through these photographs from Syd & Lex Photography, and you’ll understand the feeling. So it’s no surprise that when those delicate droplets of rain began trickling from the sky mid-wedding ceremony, laughter was the way forward. Holly & Peter took cover alongside their guests when it came time to exchange rings, and a more intimate, beautiful moment could not have unfolded more organically. The tradition of jubilation carried over into the blooms from Pearl & Sky Events, whose lively mix of dahlias, roses, daisies, and scabiosa brought a painterly touch to the modern dinner tables with matte black details + confident pattern play. To share this rainy day mountain wedding with you is an honor indeed.

From the Planner & Designer, Brianne McMullan Events: After 7.5 years of dating (high school sweethearts!) and a surprise engagement on a camping trip in Cloudland Canyon Park, and as a nod to their roots in Colorado, Holly and Peter envisioned an outdoor wedding in their home state of Georgia with a mountain view. We landed on Meadows at Mossy Creek, and began dreaming up the most colorful, bold wedding design, with lots of fun elements and nods to their story. As the wedding day approached, so did the pandemic, yet the couple calmly navigated the final months of planning. They were prepared but optimistic that their wedding plans would still remain intact. The guest count was naturally reduced due to travel, but the wedding was nevertheless a fabulous celebration of love. They included so many personal touches in their plans like watercolor paintings of their cats on their cocktail napkins, Auburn shakers (the couple’s alma mater) for the guests to use during the grand sendoff, and Holly’s family Puttanesca recipe on the menu.

On the wedding day, a rain cloud was circling around the ceremony site. Holly was committed to the outdoor ceremony they had dreamed of, so with as many umbrellas as we could find, we braced ourselves for the potential that it would rain during the ceremony. As Holly made her way down the aisle, the sky opened and rain began to fall. Minutes into the ceremony, we all raced inside and the two were officially married, surrounded by their friends who were all standing together on a porch! As much as I am sure this was a big fear of theirs, it made for a great story, some super cute photos of them running in the rain, and ceremony that was touched by a feeling of closeness that could only come by having their closest family and friends standing and surrounding the, while they shared their vows.

Even the dessert table echoes the happy floral feeling with its petalesque legs! We adore Holly & Peter’s ever-present focus on what truly matters – love. Come rain or shine, they were there to get married. They were there to celebrate. And that they did! It certainly didn’t hurt that the gray skies were brightened up by the audacious late summer blooms. We’ll always consider us super fans of dahlias for that reason. Bold, dynamic and full of “pick-me-up” energy, these florals were a focal point of another favorite we’ve shared on Ruffled.
