A Moroccan Inspired Neutral Nursery Tour

We welcomed our baby boy three months ago and today I am sharing his nursery, captured by Sophie Matthewson. We don’t usually post a whole lot of interiors, but what’s not to love about a baby’s room? I may be biased, but I am loving the cool, calm and collected vibe this room gives. You can also see the full tour on Glitter Guide.

I started off with a Moroccan desert camp vision inspired by our trips to Morocco, and the concept slowly evolved from there. I didn’t want a typical boy room with dark colors and since the room doesn’t get much natural light, I went with light colors and a neutral palette that can grow with our son.

The final result is a soothing and neutral nursery with a Botanical, Naturalist mood with a bit of an Explorer vibe.

The wallpaper is New Moon from Chasing Paper, which comes in 2×4 panels that are easy to install and removable. I installed them myself 6 months pregnant with the help of a laser level, so anyone can do it!

I have been crushing on the Lolly Crib from Babyletto ever since it came out, so I was excited to work with them on this project. I’ve been a customer of theirs since our daughter was born, and I love that their products are eco-friendly and crazy reasonable for such great design options.

The bookcase is also from Babyletto

Once the crib was set up, it felt like it was missing something, so I whipped up a crib skirt using painter’s dropcloth, cotton trim and stitch witchery. I had leftover bleached dropcloth from another project and all I did was to cut 3 panels to size, iron on fringe trim and attach the panels onto the mattress base with masking tape.

I found this photo of a domestic camel with its traditional colorful tassels on Etsy and had it framed through Framebridge. The rug is Vintage Trellis from RugsUsa. It has a subtle sheen to it with a faded pattern with gray and green on it.

The art above the bookcase is from Minted, and the eucalyptus branch is made out of paper from this DIY project we posted a few weeks ago. The bookcase is from Babyletto and it comes with colorful knobs that you can arrange any way you like.

The Campaign dresser was a estate sale gem that I refinished, painted and added a removable changing tray (paint color is Behr Gladiator Gray).

Update May 2020: we transitioned to a toddler room, and here’s how we adapted his nursery into a kid’s room!

  • This is beautiful! I have looked high and low for the large square floor pillow in your beautiful nursery. Its cream with a yellow design. On the floor in front of the crib. Where can I find it?

  • I second the question about the large square floor pouf! Absolutely stunning. Where can I find it?

  • Can you share where this light fixture is from? I have been looking everywhere for this exact one! Beautiful nursery!
