Colorful Maui Wedding
We’re happy to see signs of fall popping up all over the place (pumpkin lattes!), but today’s wedding from Wendy Laurel is making us miss summer just a tad — how could you not look at this beautiful day and wish you were in the warmth of Hawaii’s sands? Add on some chevron table runners, ombre napkins, and some amazing pinks and corals and we’re counting down the days until next summer!
From the bride, Krista: We decided on Maui because we both really wanted to do a destination wedding, and Hawaii seemed like the dream spot to do it in! I had fond memories of a childhood vacation to Oahu and my fiancee had never been, plus we avoided any worries of hurricane season in the Caribbean. The best thing we did once we decided on a location was to find a wedding planner. I knew I wanted someone who would be organized and knowledgeable about the location-since I certainly had no idea about locations or vendors.
For the bridal party, I did my best to keep things simple. I had each of my bridesmaids pick one shade of the pinks/oranges I had chosen from paint swatches, and asked them to find a knee length dress that they liked in that color. It was the simplest way to wrangle dress selections since everyone was scattered across the country, and everyone loved the dresses they wore! We also made sure to rent a beach house for the week before the wedding where our entire bridal party (and us!) could stay to really hang out. Some people we hadn’t seen in years, so it was a really great vacation in addition to a wedding.
The one thing I did to make my destination wedding feel more real to me was to have an active hand in finding the decor for the ceremony and reception. I ordered the table runners, drink straws, and origami drink stirrers off of Etsy, and had them delivered to my house so I could see them before the day of the wedding. I also really liked the ombre dinner napkins I had seen on Pinterest, so decided to DIY them myself. It was awesome to go into my wedding day not really knowing how all the details would come together. I tried to leave as much as possible to the wedding planner. It really cut down on any stress I might have felt about little details being wrong — I had no idea what “right” would have looked like!

Gorgeous wedding! Love the hot pink and silver/grey combination. The retro striped straws are fab too – these are so popular to add a little splash of colour to your wedding favours right now! Congrats!!

What a lovely couple and wedding! Great job all around.
Simply gorgeous! I’m loving everything, especially the sweet detail of 3 bright pink roses tucked into her hair.

Thank you so much for featuring this beautiful wedding. Krista was a joy to work with and it couldn’t have been captured more beautifully – Wendy you are the Queen of color!!
Love these. The colors are fantastic and the couple looks so happy!
LOVE the colors of this wedding! And the fact that the bride allowed her bridesmaids to choose dresses that they would love and show their own unique style.
Everything about this wedding is just AWESOME! Perfect
Simple beautiful , I love the photos with the ocean in the background.
We love the vibrant color scheme of this wedding! Very appropriate for Hawaii and just all around fun. What a lucky couple to be married in such a gorgeous place! The subtle use of the flowers in the bride’s hair was the perfect way to pull some of the wedding colors into her attire. The ombre colored wedding cake is to die for and very in style. Congratulations to the happy couple!
Im planning on getting married and I would like to have a Hawaiian Theme.
