Romantic California Oceanside Wedding

When you come across a wedding venue that’s got ridiculously beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, you fall in love with it almost immediately. We can’t blame Tennesseans Liz and Anton for jumping at the chance to get married here; it’s so surreal! Anna Delores was there to snap all of the sublime views, along with the romantic, minimalist design that the couple wanted Wedding Kate to execute. With the help of the beautiful peony-and-rose arrangements from Coco Rose Design, we think Liz and Anton’s wedding vision came to life ten-fold.

From the event planner and designer, Katie: From the moment I found out Liz’s wedding was on the same day as my 30th birthday, I just had to be part of it. Her sweet Tennessee accent is as intoxicating as sweet tea and her warm, welcoming demeanor is pure southern belle. Liz fell in love with the Bacara Resort and Spa and knew that the way she wanted to celebrate was with her closest friends and family in beautiful Santa Barbara. The couple loved how reminiscent it was of Napa but with incredible ocean views to write home about. The wedding day arrived with moody skies and lots of excitement. We kept the wine country feeling through her design plans, incorporating organic elements through florals and linen selections.

The ceremony was perched above the pacific, with vast sweeping views of the California coastline. We used lots of greens and white blooms to accent the property’s natural beauty, with an alter that allowed the focus to be on the bride and groom. We designed the reception in the resort’s Spa Cafe, which features a beautiful stacked stone accent wall and stunning architectural details. Guests enjoyed a dinner focused around wine pairings, with a locally sourced menu. Dancing went late into the night with a special “Happy Birthday” song by the bride for her wedding planner. Lucky me!

From the bride, Liz: For our wedding, we wanted something romantic and rustic and we didn’t want it to be very formal. We went with an all-white theme for the colors with very minimal color elsewhere. The idea was that everything was off-white or cream with a little green from the flowers.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My biggest word of advice would be to hire a wedding planner! It is a must! We couldn’t have done it without Katie Seefeldt. She took care of everything and made the entire process run smoothly. We live in Memphis, Tennessee so having somebody there in California was crucial.
