Nautical Portuguese Wedding

Being a wedding blogger, I have an ongoing list of wedding style I’d like to have as my own if I could marry Matt every month. One of them being a fresh nautical wedding. By a cliff overlooking the ocean, and in Portugal no less. Joana and Bernardo’s wedding shot by Piteira Photography checks off all boxes for such beautiful nuptials!

From Joana: Our inspiration was nautical, classic and vintage. The theme of our wedding came from our daily lives, both personal and professional: the ocean. Our ceremony location was where we always dreamed of getting married that had a special meaning for us. It was located on a cliff in Cabo Carvoeiro em Peniche – Bernardo’s hometown. We decorated the space in navy blue and red, with nautical rope details. We made paper boats as our escort cards, and designed our photobooth with a backdrop with a nautical motif and bunting.

From the photographers of Piteira Photography: Joana and Bernardo both studied at the Merchant Marine school, Bernardo is continuing his studies with the intention of one day being a ship’s captain, so they both have long standing love for boats and the sea, something that they incorporated into the theme of their wedding. The location of the ceremony and reception was also very appropriate as it was right on the edge of the cliffs in the seaside town of Peniche, in Portugal, with amazing panoramic views of the sea.

On the day of Joana and Bernardo’s wedding it threatened to rain pretty much the entire time… but luckily the showers held off and we didn’t get wet. Although even if it had poured I don’t think it would have made much difference to the bride and groom, since neither one of them had eyes for anything else except each other. The love these two share is definitely something special, enigmatic and difficult to describe, but it leaves you with a happy feeling inside, a feeling of certainty, knowing that these awesome people have found their other half… and that life is good… Those who know them will know what I mean… The ceremony was simple but very sweet and full of emotion and the location (perched on the edge of a cliff below a lighthouse) couldn’t have been better suited to a couple whose lives revolve around boats and the deep blue sea… Thank you Joana and Bernardo, for choosing to work with us and we wish you much love, happiness and smooth sailing for your future together.
