Purple Ombre Wedding Ideas

Much like us, photographer Stephanie Yonce has just a little addiction to Pinterest. Letting the site fuel her creative spirit, Stephanie along with Honey of Honeydew Events decided to take the inspiration of ombre design and let it translate into a seriously stunning styled wedding shoot with lots of fun handmade projects and a sweet surprise for the bride! From watercolor to a gorgeous ring, begin feasting your eyes now:

The original inspiration for this shoot came from Stephanie Yonce Photography‘s not-so-secret addiction to Pinterest. As ombre details began popping up all over her boards, she came to the realization that it was time to bring this trend to life with the help of Event Planner & Stylist Honeylyn, as well as a team of Virginia wedding professionals. The hope was for a bright, spring time feel with a color palette that pays homage in part to the Pantone colors for 2012.

DIY details included the retro straw and ruffle wreaths, hand painted chargers, the peach yarn covered letters and the wood shim mirror. The White Pedestals were a combination of chunky candle sticks and miniature plates discovered at a local Goodwill while the Ombre socks (based on a tutorial from SheBlogs.com) proved to be a fun challenge for Honey and Stephanie. Stephanie and Honey were both also excited to join forces with local upcycled furniture store Thrill of the Hunt, which provided the table, upholstered chairs and white dresser. The winner for “best find” for the shoot was the Purple Ombre glasses, which were discovered at a local thrift store.

Within the shoot came a fun love story between the models- Russ and Jenny, who married at this location more than five years ago. Due to unforeseen complications with their own wedding photography, they were left with almost no images of their Big Day. With that, they decided to take this opportunity to stage a “First Look” for the fun of it. Russ approached Stephanie prior to the shoot and asked if he could surprise Jenny during the First Look with her Christmas present- a new, sparkly anniversary band. The sweet moment was captured by Stephanie and the couple lived happily ever after… again!

  • The cake is beautiful and the starburst from the straws- SO CLEVER! Maybe I need to do that in my house! lol

It would have been really awesome if they dyed a petticoat in ombre style for under her dress. Can you imagine how phenomenal that would have been in purple?? Wow!

  • We are just thrilled you loved the ombre shoot as much as we did- it was a pleasure to work with such a talented team. Now- if I can only convince Stephanie and Honey to make me one of those wreaths… 😉

  • Stephanie and Honeylyn are very talented professionals and I have used their services myself. We loved what they did for us at our fortieth anniversary celebration.

  • OH! Love the table numbers and the straw wreath and the ombre utensils and the… yeah, pretty much everything about this.

  • Beautiful! I love the colors, the watercolor touches, and the straw wreath.

Any idea where her shoes are from?

  • This is so beautiful, and that dress is incredible!! I would love to know where it’s from! 🙂

  • @Emily Heizer – We actually had planned on dying the dress a dark plum ombre (which would have been INCREDIBLE), but sadly the tulle underneath the dress won’t take dye at all. 🙁 Changing out the tulle wasn’t an option either because the tulle underneath totally MAKES that dress!

@Michelle & @ Shannon – The shoes are from Nordstrom!

@Lisa – The dress was actually MY wedding dress from when I got married (almost 2 years ago – geez!). I completely destroyed the bottom of the dress by some pretty hardcore dancing combined with a muddy ground from a rainy day, so I decided to shorten it so it could be worn again! I love the way it turned out. 🙂

  • @limefish Studio – Thank you so much!!! We are HONORED!

@Jg – Not a stupid question! They are carnations, believe it or not! 🙂

  • So lovely! Can you please tell me where her necklace is from?

  • this is all SO beautiful! what kind of paint was used to color the chanrgers? and what color were they originally?

    • Thank you so much Veronica!

The chargers were originally gold (I think!), and we just used a light shade of peach! Forgive me, but I cannot remember the exact shade of peach. 🙂

  • This set up and color comibination is SO beautiful! what color were the chargers before they were painted and what type/color of paint was used?

  • How’d you pull off the invites/table numbers? Was it a DIY project? I love the watercolor effect!

    • Hi Brittany!

Sorry for the delayed response – there isn’t anyway to get notified of questions via these comments.! 🙂 The teal candle are from Garden Ridge – I think they still have them!

  • Where did you buy those amazing teal wine glasses from…??

    • Hi Brittany!

Sorry for the delayed response – there isn’t anyway to get notified of questions via these comments.! 🙂 The teal wine glasses are actually candle goblets! Can you believe it? We got them from Garden Ridge – I think they still have them!

  • Love this! Any idea where the groom’s attire (specifically the tie) is from?
