Seafoam California Wedding
Honestly, how can you possibly go wrong with a seafoam and coral color palette? Jacqueline and Daniel wanted their wedding to feel like a fancy backyard party, so they recruited the talents of their friends and family to make the big day feel as personalized and lovingly assembled as possible. Next To Me Studios came on board to capture all the details – one of our favorites is the string art seen throughout the reception!
From the bride, Jacqueline: Above all else, we wanted there to be a fun atmosphere and for people to feel loved. Throughout every part of the day we envisioned it to be a celebration, and we wanted our family and friends to feel like they were at a fancy party in our backyard. While there was no specific theme, we were drawn to natural decor and colors. We used a palette of natural colors lightly accented with sea foam green and coral pink.
Bouquet recipe: hydrangeas, spray roses, lisianthus, wax flowers, baby’s breath, eucalyptus and a few others.
The wedding was almost completely DIY, though by the end we called it a “Do It Together” because we had so much help from our wonderful, talented friends. We did our own flower arrangements, the boutonnieres were handmade, all the decor was handmade (twine balls, yarn “beloved” sign, twine wrapped mason jars), our signs were hand-painted, the cork key chain party favors and its display were handmade, the cross for the ceremony was handmade, the cork table numbers were handmade, our DJ and live musicians were our friends, make-up and hair was done by our friends, and while a particularly talented friend designed our save-the-dates and invitations (AND the website), we printed and put them together ourselves. Instead of a traditional guestbook, guests were asked to write us messages on postcards we made using pictures from our engagement shoot with Next To Me Studios, and had them mailed to us over the course of a few months.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Start planning and saving early. Especially when working within a budget, it’s important to start working on wedding projects well in advance. Have a lot of fun and don’t sweat the small things. Get your friends and family involved: everyone is gifted in something, and they will all love to help make the wedding happen.
