Gold Old Hollywood Inspiration
Inspired by Lana Del Ray’s song “Burning Desire,” this gold and emerald shoot screams old Hollywood glam. Rich emerald hues are scattered throughout the accessories and decor while metallic golds, silvers and pewters serve as the perfect accents. ARTIESE and DU*O Events Toronto were sure to create a romantic and vintage wedding look that embodies the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s perfectly.
From the photographer, ARTIESE: The romantic yet glamorous themes of old Hollywood style were the main inspirations. With popular artists like Lana Del Rey bringing back the 50’s-70’s influenced genres, we see a continuing trend developing in today’s fashion and social scene. Her song “Burning Desire” inspired ideas of grandeur as we couldn’t help but play with the vintage and nostalgic suggestions to be incorporated into this shoot. After weeks of searching for a space, we finally found a venue that had the décor we envisioned. The design embodied the perfect 50’s-70’s romantic and rustic style we were looking for.
For this styled shoot we chose to incorporate Emerald, 2013’s color of the year. Described by Pantone as lively, radiant, and lush, we wanted to use it to highlight the design while maintaining a romantic yet rustic feel. Using hints of green in our stationery and other décor details, we presented it in a way that would be emphasized, but not overwhelming. The wedding dress designed by Shirley Ing was a perfect fit for the old Hollywood style we were going for. It really reminded us of the seductive, romantic style portrayed in Lana’s ‘Burning Desire’. Our model offered a beautiful contrast with her lush natural red hair. Encompassing a soft and glamorous essence, she was perfect for this Lana Del Ray inspired shoot.
We chose gold and silver vintage elements for the guest table-setting. We also created our own vintage runner out of doilies and made a fun ‘LOVE’ marquee sign to give the sweets corner some pop. Using antique pewter pots for vases, we incorporated lush floral such as hydrangeas, anemones and garden roses for our centerpiece. To achieve a soft and romantic ambience, we added numerous candles to the setting.
The cake and dessert table was decorated with a variety of sweets such as butter cookies, cake pops, donuts, and cupcakes. Using hints of emerald in many elements of sweets table, we wanted to tie it to the theme and colour combinations used in the table setting.
